Chicken Squared — Restaurant in Oakville

The Representative, who refused to give his name, was rude, obnoxious and condescending.

We have been loyal customers of this location and regularly recommend it to others. We have, on occasion, ordered 100 pieces to cater for kids' parties.

We called today to do the same - we explained we wanted to order 100 pieces at the rate of the 12-piece boxes (which would come to approx $250 plus tax). The rep refused to honour this deal (on their site) and instead insisted he was giving an “amazing” discount while quoting $390 (using the two-piece rate plus a “discount”). It was clear there was a communication issue, as he didn't understand the intended order or the math behind it. When we sought to explain our position - he became belligerent and rude, raised his voice, and said my wife was “talking nonsense,” among other snippy comments.

When I went to the store to complain to his manager, he approached the entire event arrogantly and was unapologetic. He initially refused to speak with me in person - apparently only comfortable being rude and aggressive with my wife over the phone.

At the insistence of Abdul, another employee there who was very reasonable, the unnamed employee eventually stated, “he was sorry my wife’s feelings were hurt.”

Throughout the event, he was cranky and obnoxious and arrogant. He refused to acknowledge the things he had said and continued to insist upon the “nonsense” of our position. Notable we got a superior deal from Popeyes with a 5 min call.

This unnamed representative has single-handedly lost chicken squared our, and our family and friends' business, with his behaviour and inability to address it with a modicum of good...

We're new to the neighbourhood and we thought we'd give this place a try... I should've walked out from my initial gut feeling but thought that it would be unfair on them, so I went ahead and placed my order for some fried chicken, popcorn chicken, fish and chips and poutine...

Issue one: they wouldnt give me 2 pieces of white meat for our fried chicken meals because they said that white meat is expensive and they cannot cook it for orders like this... hmm odd. If you're in the fried chicken business you're going to get requests of this nature.

Issue two: I was told the chicken was freshly cooked and it had only been in their metal storage bins for a couple of minutes... chicken was dry and we were burping up the spices that were in the meal for the rest of the day... super gross!

Issue three: poutine gravy had dark brown balls in it which lead us to believe that it was the bottom of the pot where all the gravy sediment resides...

Issue four: popcorn chicken was like eating Indian pakoras... if I wanted spicy battered chicken I would go get an Indian take away.

The only good thing was the halibut and chips but the batter was super super greasy...

The location's kitchen and POS areas were kind of grimy.

They got me once, unfortunately we will not be going back. I guess it's a certain taste for those with that type...

I used was a regular, pretty much only eating from here in Oakville (because it WAS the best halal food joint) the quality of the food has tanked massively, ordered an entire family platter, we got some overcooked and stale chicken, fries that are soggy, my family didn’t even continue eating we packed it all and put it in the fridge and was ready to bring it back to show to the restaurant as proof. After calling ahead dude said it’s not his problem, and that it arrived hot, I don’t disagree it did arrive hot, but it was TERRIBLE also the odour of the chicken, funky and sort of like fishy almost, just AWFUL food, even worse customer service, imagine being told “not my my problem”, when you’ve ordered food from that restaurant. What the hell is going on over there, genuinely what a shame, I hope this food quality being this bad is a one off, and overall this place improves its quality, but that customer service after the food experience is unforgivable, 100% lost myself and my family as loyal customers. Whoever I spoke to on the phone was an a hole and clearly was having a laugh putting me on speaker, bad example for the others...
