Came for late breakfast and selected one of two "all day breakfast" items on the menu. Overall, I recommend the place and enjoyed the meal. Here's the deets... for this 4 star rating.
I ordered eggs and bacon and it also came with a mashed up tasteless blob of potatoes. (Except the centre area where there was a dab of butter) Even with the potatoes that I only ventured to taste a small amount of, the meal was good.
The clientele is varied with young girls at the table behind me laughing about their night of drinking, families enjoying time together, and bikers with leather and chains out for an nice cup of coffee and a hearty manly lunch before hitting the road and cruising all day.
The decor and ambience is young, trendy and fresh, the waitstaff is knowledgable and friendly and the kitchen is quick and the food tastes fresh. So the freshness at the eddy is not just a boast, it appears true.
My breakfast was 9 bucks and the coffee 2. No complaints, it was worth the coin. I'm curious where they get there eggs from, they taste like farm eggs. Even my 11 year old daughter who was with me commented on how good the eggs were. I ordered easy over, and there was not a runny white to be seen, they were cooked perfectly. Im picky about this. My daughter ordered sunny side up and she dunked her the toast and was happy. A note about the coffee, it tastes good despite the Kakabeka Falls small town water supply in which other restaurants in the town have less than desirable coffee. The Eddy has it figured out in the caffeinated department, go there for your fix.
They appear to have a liquor license and I'd like to come back for a dinner. There is also a 10% off marketing perk if you "check in" on Facebook and promote them on social media for free.
Eddy, I enjoyed breakfast at your establishment and I'll come back either for another family breaky or with friends to sample some dinner and drink vino. But, please add a slice of fruit to you breakfast plate and liven up those potatoes to get 5 stars! Also, please water and fertilize your petunia hanging baskets outside,...
Read moreI work in the service industry and sympathize with the crisis of staff shortages. I have tried to eat at this local restaurant many times and they have been closed with no notice. However, I have enjoyed their food in the past and we were so hungry that we decided to stop in. The waitress did say that pizza and nachos were the quickest to get and that regular menu items would be about an hour because of staff shortages (not many in the kitchen yet about 5 waitresses at the front). We were looking for some hearty menu items but we were on our way back home from fishing and hungry so we settled for the nachos. Our nachos came in about 45 minutes and I had asked that half be without olives and jalapeños (at the time of ordering). The waitress stated that the cook staff said they cannot guarantee half placements (when the nachos came..). There was not even an ounce of trying to leave olives and jalapeños off any part of the nachos, and the extra surcharge for ‘taco beef’ would’ve been fine if the beef had existed. The cheese was still left unmelted and shredded ontop of the chips that were half stale as well. I have never made a Google review, but unfortunately I had to give this one and definitely will not be returning. It’s pretty bad when the front house staff say ‘sorry thanks for trying us anyways!’ after you finish paying. Staff shortages aren’t an excuse to undercook and throw together 27$ nachos (especially when the waitress tells us that she noticed they weren’t done correctly). I truly hope things change for this once stellar...
Read moreThe food was really good. Had wings and a quesadilla shared with my family. The issue was with our server. Can’t recall her name, but after she sat us came to take our order and after we had ordered the nachos tells us that they don’t have nachos anymore. We ask if there are other menu items not available and she isn’t sure. We ask for a minute to decide what we want since nachos weren’t available. She is gone for at least 10-15 minutes. We almost approached other servers asking if they could take our order. She then returns and apologizes that she got caught up in the back. She takes our order, which then our food takes about 40 minutes to come. The restaurant is not full and most tables already had their food. A group of 6 arrived about 25 minutes after us and got their food before we did. We also have a 2 year old toddler with us, which keeping them placated for any length of time isn’t easy, this became downright an impossible challenge. Just after my spouse mentioned maybe getting our food to go since we were just done with waiting, our food arrived brought by other servers. Not once after we received our food did anyone come by and ask how it was, if we wanted more drinks, etc. The only reason this didn’t get a one star review is I’m hoping it is either a brand new server/just a bad night for her, and the food that we did get was a...
