My husband & I had reservations for dinner to celebrate our anniversary and the service, food and atmosphere were perfect, as usual. Living down the street, we have been coming here for over 20 years and have always enjoy it.
Our appetizers, the shrimp cocktail and honeycomb crusted Gunshill brie cheese with plum compote & roasted garlic were absolutely delicious! For main courses, my husband had a steak with gorgonzola cheese and he kept raving about it, how it melted in his mouth, saying it is the best he's ever had, comparing it to steaks he's eaten all across North America. I had their surf & turf burger topped with Hollandaise sauce and it was so incredibly big I had to eat it with a knife & fork, without the bun. The onion rings accompanying it were truly the best I've ever had! We've always loved the food, but tonight the chef outdid himself. The portions were large and we'll be enjoying leftovers tomorrow. We were also treated to a special dessert for our anniversary.
Karen & Georgie looked after us, they have always gone out of their way to make our evenings special. Phyllis, the new sommelier, selected a perfect wine for me, I'm so disappointed it is such a limited quantity. She was so knowledgable about the vineyards and very interesting to listen to. I wanted to try all the wines she recommended.
Ryan Devlin, the chef/owner, is not just a great business man, he is all for the community as well. Watching him during the Covid lockdowns, he did everything he could to support local businesses and encouraged others to as well. He also used his own business to support those less fortunate. He has had a Charity Bread on the menu for a few years that is used to support a local charity selected by a different staff member each month.
I highly recommend Devlin's Country Bistro. You will definitely enjoy your evening and come away full...
Read moreHiring Devlin's to cater our wedding in August 2024 was an experience that we, and our guests will never forget. From our initial consultation it quickly became clear that Ryan and his catering team are incredible - with a vision that far exceeds any other catering company we were in touch with.
We enjoyed a date night at the restaurant in Mount Pleasant and quickly scheduled our tasting with friends. On the night of the tasting, Ryan made sure to not only say hello, but to sit down and tell us more about his story and his philosophy on food which made the entire experience feel less transactional and much more friendly and honest. We were sold before our appetizers hit the table.
Ryan worked with us to develop a menu that our guests are STILL talking about nearly 7 months later. We felt we had so much autonomy in what was served that day. We received so much glowing feedback on the hors d'oeuvres that circulated at cocktail hours, remarking that our guests have never had poached lobster on a stick or that they ate so much they were afraid they might not have room for dinner!
Dinner service was a 12/10 experience. Ryan promised us that every single dish would be served hot and boy did their team deliver! I've never seen so many clean plates after dinner service at a wedding, and our guests loved that the dual protein plate meant they didn't have to choose between chicken and beef. Don't even get me started on the caesar salad. It's legendary. Their wait staff were such professionals. Their timing was impeccable and the team working behind the scenes to create such a remarkable dining experience were all top notch.
If you're still on the hunt for a caterer for a wedding or any special event in the future, share a meal at their restaurant. Reach out to the catering team. You will not be...
Read moreThere is something so very slightly "eerily unwelcoming" about this place. It starts as you are opening their front door and are stepping into the restaurant. We were there for our wedding anniversary and had made reservations several weeks out beforehand. The majority (if not all) of the evening reservation time slots were open at the time that we made the reservation so our reservation was readily made for 6:15pm. As we stepped in there eagerly anticipating a half decent or possibly premium dining lounge seating we were floored when we observed the hostess turn to lead us to a tiny boorish, classless seating area to the left of the doorway. Realizing what was going on here now and knowing that we had made our reservation well in advance we clued into the “unspoken” that was actually at play
This wasn’t the 1st time we were questionably treated there but we will make sure its the last time. We'll also be sure to not use our real first names to make reservations and to use more common proper sounding names
In response to the "Reply"
We identified a cultural flaw surrounding your businesses nature and your response is that we were “very rude”. That is completely not true and we were never rude. We merely stated our opinion of your business in a plain politically polite fashion. I say again that People should only use common sounding names when making reservations with your business. We sincerely wish you and your employees all the best but your statement sadly highlights the true origin for the “biased nature” within your business which now appears to originate from...
