I can't say that I wasn't excited to try this place. I love ice cream, especially in the summer.
This ice cream is supposed to be a premium product that prioritizes quality, craftsmanship, over mass-market appeal. Artisan hand crafted ice cream usually has unique flavors too. Hence the price.
The 3 staff members were friendly, lots of smiles.
The inside is very small, which explains the long line ups usually out front (and because folks love the ice cream of course).
We enjoyed both our ice cream flavs but it was not worth the price, in my opinion. I think our total came to $22 without tip. As I people watched with my friend outside, all I could think about was all the families that come here with their kiddos. It would be a lot for a family of 3-4, just for ice cream. I know you can buy the smallest cup of ice cream for approx $4.20....but the cup is so small. There are three sizes of cups - Petite, Single, and Double. Any adult would steer towards the double, because it's the biggest size (but still not that big), but that will cost you $8.90 lol. That's wild to me. A litre of this ice cream is $26? Listen, I get that is homemade/handcrafted, and the ice cream was good, but Brad Pitt didn't take a lick of it before it was handed to me! Having said that - Picton and Bloomfield residents adore this place, so I appreciate that. My opinion is not the norm. In Belleville, we are used to Reid's Dairy, or if you have the app, the soft serve cones for a buckaroo that McD's offers - and you can order up to 5 cones for $1. In one order. Not artisian handcrafted, but they hit the spot, and a family of 4-5 would pay less than $10 for ice cream.
Parking fell flat - we had to park down the road, which is fine for us, but if an individual had mobility issues and was craving ice cream, it might not be...
Read moreFantastic ice cream; tasted great, and there were a number of flavours to choose from.
I tried a scoop of the Jazzberry on top of a scoop of chocolate (whose name I've forgotten,) and it tasted like a berry cheesecake on a chocolate base. It's definitely not that generic "wild berry" flavour (you know, that tastes like "blue"!) But a really nicely blended mixture of primarily strawberry and raspberry. They offer little sample spoons if you want to make sure it's your thing.
My companions report Campfire does taste of actual burnt marshmallows, and That's Nuts is good, but not all that.
Definitely recommended when out on a gorgeous day; there's a variety of seating outside. However there's only room for a few people inside at a time, so be prepared to wait in line outside even if you're not eating there.
Be prepared with payment...
Read moreA great little ice cream parlour that has simple unique, homemade flavours. I got the campfire flavour which tasted like burnt marshmallows. It was delicious and tasted how it was supposed to. They also have choices like apple pie and chocolate orange which sound great.
Service here was ok as there was only one staff member during my visit. As she was responsible for both taking and filling orders, and the cash, a line up inevitably formed. Luckily we were the first.
Pricing here is reasonable as a single scoop is only $3.85 and it was a decently sized scoop at that. For $5.85 you can get a double with your choice of two flavours. A regular cone, sugar cone, or cup are your free options. However, I would recommend getting the waffle cone for an extra dollar as it makes eating the big...
