I like this place. Sure, it's on a busy street, but that's what Preston is. And maybe the serving staff don't always know their beer. And the Italian/Irish fusion doesn't really work, IMO. But, the beer bible is amazing. They have brews from around the world, and a fantastic selection of local craft brews. If you love craft beer, or beer in general, this is the place. What I love is their presentation. Typically, when I got to a pub in Ottawa, I get my beer served in the standard shaker pint glass, or something like that. Not here. Every beer is served in the proper glassware, at the proper temperature; the way the brewer meant for it to be. They typically have casks and one-offs from the local brewers as well. These are things I can't typically say about a pub. The food is good; better than the typical pub fare, but not fantastic. To be honest, I've only eaten here two or three times, and the food was pretty good. I love the atmosphere inside. It looks like an old monastery, or a catholic church, but the patio is the nicest spot. I have to attack the one star review on here: Sure, it would be nice if every server was as passionate as I about craft beer, but that's not really what they are paid for. And yes, it is pricey. But is $10 for an appetizer really that bad? It sucks that the food you ordered wasn't that good, but who cares about the food at a place with a beer bible anyways? If you love craft beer, this is the spot. One of my favorites in...
Read moreService: Hey, Three of us went in at 7 PM and placed our order, drinks, apps and main course, there were two people who took the order together, one was the waitress and there was a trainee along with her. After 5 mins of placing the order, we are served our drinks and then we ask the trainee, to bring the appetizers out when ever they are ready ahead of the rest of the order, 30 mins go by no word from either of them about the appetizers or the food, so we ask the trainee about the apptizers, she says there is a mess up and the food will come. No details on how much more time it will take or what happened, she rushed off. Then after another 30 mins go by (1 hour total), now the time was 8 PM, we are finaly able to get hold of the main waitress, who when asked what happened says there has a been a mess up in kitchen and that we will get our food shortly. She didnt even come up till that point to even ask if we needed a repeat of drinks, or to explain that there was an issue and the food would be delayed. When asked on the same, she got defensive and tried to pin it on us saying we placed the whole order together. Yes, we did place the entire order together but she was no where in sight to even check what was happening. Worst service I got in a restaurant in a while. Horrible service.
Food: Lasgna was mediocre, Buffalo chicken bites felt like frozen walmart stuff, Penne...
Read moreI love this place, the one star is only for the waitress who claims her name is Noah. She is an unhappy person who should find something other than the service industry to work in. We were a group of 4 at first and she wasn’t the most smiley person we met but who cares or notices, we’re out for a good time. Suddenly she became unbearable, talking to us like we offended her in some way. I was offended by how she spoke to us so I’m the only one who asked what’s wrong and she said our friend from the table who went out for a cigarette was smoking too close to the fence. She continued to be the worst person you have to talk to. More friends came to join but had to sit at another table because of the max 4 per table rule and even though they were my friends parents she also treated them terribly. I finally paid my bill and for the first time in my life didn’t tip but she smiled at me as a final flip off to my group. I stood up and told her that if one person in a group is annoying you shouldn’t be this way to everyone. She thanked me for the advice. A week later and another friend mentioned pub Italia and their *^%#^ waitress out of nowhere. I didn’t even share my experience. It just proves she shouldn’t be out in front house. Love the...
