Ralph & Sons — Restaurant in Ottawa

Decent food but it was overpriced. The staff is good but some people are unfriendly there. Good family environment. Full story: The location was half full when we got there. We were 2 people (me and my wife) and the owner (an older lady in street clothes) asked us to sit on the bar, even though 4 different tables were empty and clean. We told her that we will prefer a table and she just left us and did not seat us at all. We went and sat on a table of 4 anyway, all tables available were 4 or more. She first asked us to leave, as we started to leave she asked us back on the same table and moved 2 chairs and half table away. After this there was no place to move around and waiters and other customers kept bumping me. Finally after half an hour when we were served our food the waitress put the table back how it was. I really really wanted to love this place! It’s so neat to get to watch the staff cook. It feels like a family cooking for friends. The prices were insane. Almost 8$ for a bowl of soup. 6$ extra if you want fries with your sandwich. I ordered anyways, but our waitress a short lady with curly hair literally ignored us over and over again even though we were sitting right at the kitchen. Our coffee was never refilled and I think we only got it because the waitress who seated us got it for us (short hair grey hair, she was lovely and very attentive to her tables.) we were never offered anything to drink. Talk about a fantastic fried egg sandwich. This place is modest but boasts an incredible selection of breakfast items all of which taste just like Mamma used to make.

The service is sincere and the team cooking in the grill works like a well oiled machine.

It's everything that you would expect out of an exceptional dining style in an old fashioned Diner atmosphere.

The establishment is filled with friendly employees and is incredibly clean.

Did I mention that it's been here in Ottawa over 50 years and still running?

That's a indication of prosperity even through tough times due to the quality that this hidden little gem provides to our community here in the Ottawa Area.

I, most certainly, will be back.
