From the moment we walked into Yemen Gate, we were greeted with genuine warmth and exceptional hospitality. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome—it felt like we were having a meal with family.

The food? Absolutely phenomenal. We ordered a variety of dishes, including their signature chicken and lamb mandi, and every single bite was bursting with authentic Yemeni flavor. The meat was perfectly seasoned, fall-off-the-bone tender, and served on fragrant, fluffy rice that was out of this world. The fresh salads, homemade sauces, and side dips added the perfect balance to the rich, savory dishes.

Food was amazing. I didn’t know what to expect as I’ve never had Yemeni food before. The chicken Mandi sort of reminded me of biyriani but the meat was much more tender than I’m used to. It was excellent. I also loved the spicy red Yemeni chutney.

Although there is seating available, at this location, they seem to focus on takeout. They served our soup in plastic takeout containers and gave us plastic spoons. So if you are low-waste like me, then bring your own cutlery and soup container, they did serve the main dish on a ceramic plate though, so that was good.

The person serving us was extremely wholesome and clearly cared about his work. I saw him juggling phone calls, takeout customers, filling containers for Uber orders… all while still checking in on me and my husband if we needed anything or had questions. He also answered any questions we had over the phone before we arrived.

FIRST AND LAST TIME HERE

I had a guest in my home two weeks ago and I thought I'd get something for takeaway. I ordered a mix plate (chicken and meat) mandi. Although the chicken was alittle close to good, I was really embarrassed in from of my guest when it comes to the meat. They just put few pieces of bone with little meat on it. The pieces were 90% bone. When we called the manager, he offered a replacement but later on we got what he meant. He wants us to have the replacement plate BUT he wants us to pay for it instead for covering for the terrible dish they served us from the beginning. I will NOT go there a second time.
