Worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant! Snowmobiled to this restaurant for dinner, we were being seated bringing all of our snow gear to our table as per usual when the waitress came running over telling us to set all of our stuff on the ledge in front of the fireplace as it was out of everyone’s way since it was busy time of night and that the fireplace is more of a show piece and it doesn’t get too warm, she touched the fireplace and said see it doesn’t get hot please set your stuff right in front of it you can even hang your stuff right on it if you wanted to (we didn’t hang anything on it). We left our helmets and mitts by the fireplace like she said (nothing was touching the fireplace). When we finished our meal we waited 25 minutes to get the bill after asking twice for it. I went to get our gear and noticed a strong odour as I started picking stuff up, it burnt my hand burning my fingertips and then I noticed that the fireplace had melted one of our $400 ski-doo helmets to the point of unwearable. The back of the helmet had melted the size of 2 large baseballs leaving a huge soft smoking hot dent in it caving the helmet in. I immediately and very calmly brought it to our servers attention as she was the one to tell us to put it there and she looked at me and said “So.” Unbelievably ignorant staff as they all piped in and began yelling at us. I asked for a manager and they would not let me speak to one. As we were about to leave I saw him and pulled him aside and he gave me the owners info so I could speak to her (Jo Anne) on Monday. When we called she said too bad you aren’t getting anything out of me it was your fault and my staff had every right to treat you that way. The server lied to her and told her a completely different story as she told us her side. The owner then hung up the phone and blocked our number after yelling at us. We will never return to this place and I recommend you don’t either (especially if you go by sled). Ignorant staff trained by ignorant owners. If I could give this a negative star...
Read moreWhen you have a FANTASTIC meal for breakfast (Eggs Bennies and Blueberry pancakes - OMG!!! 😋 😋 😋) with the BEST service you've had in ages you may think it's a one-off.
So we tried dinner again tonight.
We were a table of five with a charming young man named Kiran as out server. He was absolutely AMAZING!! Kind, funny, chatty (but just the right amount), had us all feeling great before our meals even hit the table. Then BAM!! We're overwhelmed with the perfect everything!! My fish and chips were perfectly cooked, nice batter, huge pieces of fish and big, fat beefeater fries with what I assume was a homemade gravy that tasted like mom used to make. My son said it was the best poutine ever (next to his Uncle's - who also owns a restaurant), my husband had the Chicken Stir Fry fry with a side Caesar salad and he LOVED it. Nice flavours, not too bold or bland. Our friends had the Halibut and fries and the Chicken Tenders and House Salad with Raspberry Vinaigrette that were all to die for.. especially the dressing! Everything was beautifully presented and served quickly with a smile, every attention to detail was noted. They ran out of coleslaw for our fish and halibut meal and made us beautiful house salads instead! It even started to downpour just as we were finishing and heading out to get ice cream, and Kiran volunteered to get us those as well!
I know I sound like I'm gushing.. because I AM!! Seriously an A+++ experience and we would all HIGHLY recommend having a meal here. I don't know how they train their staff, but my husband and I both said they have the most wonderful individuals working here. Such a pleasure to dine!!
Definitely NOT a one-off!! 👏🏼 🥰
Thank you.. from the bottom of our hearts. We will definitely see you again VERY...
Read moreCold Poutine, RUDE staff.
Despite hearing that the service has been poor this summer... we wanted a treat we could eat outside.
My mom and I waited 45 minutes from the time we got in line, until we recieved our food. The burger was tasty, the poutine was cold.
The toppings weren't out OR offered, so I had to get back into line after realizing at the picnic table that our burgers were bare.
I waited another 10 minutes as staff ignored the line in order to talk to themselves. I finally got irritated enough with that line, that I figured I would test my luck at actually receiving service, indoors.
The staff member cleaning the area between the doors saw me, but made me wait outside. Finally, I had a chance to go past her and she couldn't even be bothered enough with basic human interaction, let alone service-level interaction. No hello, no thank you for waiting, no apology for making me wait.
I get inside and the bartender seems nice enough. Until she insisted the toppings were outdoors. I explained to her that I am aware of where they are SUPPOSED to be, but that they weren't there and I was tired of waiting in lines that weren't moving. She gave me attitude and acted as though I was inconveniencing her, but checked... and sure enough, I WAS correct. She asked what I wanted, got it, I thanked her, and she sarcastically told me 'you're welcome.'
At absolutely no point were we rude or dramatic with staff. At no point did we expect anything more than the most basic service.
My parents comes here once a month or so (to dine inside). But, our family will not be back.
Note to the owner from someone with a TON of foodservice experience: Poor staff = Poor experience. Get better folks before this becomes your...
