Resto De L'Anse — Restaurant in Percé

Food wise I would give this resturant a 5 as for service I would give it a minus 5. There is nothing ruder then have a waitress not even try to understand our horrid English. You do know that French money and English money all looks and spends the same right!! The food was absolutely amazing there was no doubt about that. I had the waitress grabs plates out of my hands, heard her talking to another costumer about added her tip to our bill because we were English. I worked for years as a waitress and I never once adressed a person or a group of people as les Anglais or Le francaise as far as that goes. I would have been repremended or worse fired for my rudeness. The waitress if I should call her that didn't ask if our meal was ok , never offered us more water nothing. I hope the owner of the restaurant gets to read this, I loved the resturant, the food but the person that served us was the worse service I ever had. One should always check , just because we weren't speaking french doesn't mean we don't understand it. Then the woman addedv14.00 extra to our bill for her tip since when does a waitress get to chose how much tip she should get. As a past waitress I thought you conduct to the clientele was how you earned at tip, not by ridiculing the clients. My husband and I walked in on our first visit and waited around 7 minutes infront of the cash before anyone even said hi EVEN THOUGH THEY KEPT LOOKING AT US. A woman came back infront asking if we have been served when clearly we have not? Then she yelled out to a young woman that had tattoos on her arms, one that was written "MAUDE". When she came to see us, she didnt even say hi, only got an annoyed "oui?" I then asked if the fish and chip had dairy and she replied annoyed again, "I dont understand what you mean by dairy". And I replied, "milk, butter, cream?" And she said " no there is not other than mayonaise but mayo has no dairy". My husband and I were so frustrated by her attitude that we just left and she did not even care neither did she say bye or have a good day. How don't you understand what dairy products mean?? Especially when you work in the restaurant industry you are supposed to know what is in all the food items on your menu. This was our first visit and will be our last and will be telling our family members who live in Gaspé not to go...

It's a simple restaurant but they have an extensive menu. We went 3x during the week we were in town, first time ate outside on a table which was delightful to see the water (even though the place is across the street from the water), then we ordered a pizza to go (loaded with veggies, wow! and one slice filled us, not the typical NJ-style pizza we're used to), and then went back for fish and chips to go.
