Read moreBeing an absolute addict for Mexican food, I was happy to see a burrito restaurant right in the heart of downtown Peterborough. As I entered, I was taken aback by the size, layout, color scheme and cleanliness of the restaurant. It's hard to believe this business isn't even a year old. It looks like they're well established.
Then we get to the main part - the food! What made this place stand out for me was that they actually have wet burritos. For those that may be unaware, it's a burrito with enchilada sauce spread on the top. While very common in the US, especially in the Midwest and South, this is the first time I saw a restaurant selling wet burritos in Canada. So I knew immediately that I was going to get a wet chicken burrito, and I can say that I made a great choice. It was absolutely incredible and now sits as my most favorite burrito.
Seeing as these guys had so many options, many quite unique like chicken 65, lotus root, chickpeas, I had to give these a try. The owners, a lovely young couple, were so incredibly friendly and they even let us sample a couple bites of the chicken 65 and chick peas and I settled on the chick pea quesadilla which was incredible! The blend of spices mixed with traditional toppings just tasted incredible.
On my way out, I let them know that my mother is a strict vegetarian who can be quite picky with what she eats. They recommended I try the lotus root bowl for her. She was incredibly happy with it and even asked me to try, which I then proceeded to finish for her...lol.
All in all, an incredible place that I wish were in Toronto, and a place I will stop by anytime I find myself in...
Read moreFood is okay.... ordered chicken bowl which I paid extra for guac but was given very tiny bit of it.. serving is small .. not sure if its because I called out the one making my food for using the SAME GLOVES she was wearing while taking my money and the same gloves used preparing my food. They need to pay attention to making sure they are serving clean food. She tried justifying that she just finished serving someone that is why she didnt get the chance to change her gloves.. but thats inexcusable specially if you display your food handling certification.
My own opinion.. not worth the money and the risk of getting sick.. will not come back again.
UPDATE: another reason why I will personally not support this place.. closing is not an EXCUSE to be putting your patrons at risk of getting sick. One guy is still eating at the store and based on your hours outside. You were still open when I walked in.. I simply asked if you can still serve as the guy was already mopping the floor.
This place has so much excuses and lies as suppose to just acknowledging the feedback and making it better. Will definitely NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!
AND NO, SHE DID NOT CHANGE HER GLOVES THAT SHE WAS WEARING TAKING MY CASH AND GIVING MY CHANGE AND USED THE SAME GLOVES PREPARING MY FOOD, UNTIL I ASKED HER TO CHANGE IT AND GET NEW GLOVES (SHE EVEN SAID SORRY WHEN I CALLED HER OUT AND BEFORE I LEFT)DONT LIE.. YOU HAVE YOUR...
