MAPLE MOOSE PUB — Restaurant in Peterborough

The only saving grace from this visit was our hostess/waitress Olivia. My group had a reservation for 13 people for 6pm. We began showing up around 5:50 and our table was ready so we sat and waited. Our whole group was seated by 6:15. Thankfully some members decided last minute they could not make because we were at a table that could only accommodate 8 people. It was a very busy night with other large reservations so we waited until 6:40 before I mentioned to Olivia that no one had been by to even give us waters yet and asked if there would be much of a wait. She apologized and went to check with, I assume management. When she came back she apologized as there must have been a mix up and she was going to serve us herself. Olivia was very attentive and helped us as soon as she could. After everything we finally received our food around 7:30. I had found a hair in my food and Olivia had the kitchen remake it for me. It was the same colour as my hair but it seemed much shorter than mine so while my food was being remade I made sure to tie it back to ensure if it was mine it wouldn’t happen again. 5-10minutes later she brought me a fresh meal and within the first bite was ANOTHER hair. I politely declined it be remade again and they decided they would comp any drinks I had had for the night, our group was also offered a 20% discount both for the wait and the food issues. While we were sat at this table I watched the hostess/waitress do the jobs of 4 people - hosting, serving, bussing and delivery, I made sure that she would be receiving our tips. Had a Guinness at the bar today. Upon finishing my first, and ordering a second, I noticed a very peculiar practice. The bartender took my used, dirty glass and used the bar glass rinser to spray it and then proceeded to pour my second pint into the same glass. I didn’t ask for the same glass to be used again. When asked about it, I was told that's a common practice. Perfect way to spread COVID again in my opinion. The sprayer is not meant to sanitize glasses and if it is being used like that it is spreading germs and contaminating every beer glass that goes through it. Management needs to look into this pronto and train their staff properly.

I watched the bartender re-use my glass, I asked her about it and she confirmed that she re-used the same ole dirty glass after just spraying it in the rinser. So now you are claiming that I am lying or mistaken and that your bartender lied or was mistaken too. Makes no sense. I saw it happen with my own eyes and the bartender told me yes she did. And she told me it's common practice.

As a matter of fact, when the bartender confirmed she reused the dirty glass i told her that was nasty and she then asked me if I would like a new drink, she then poured me a new drink in a fresh glass. Maple Moose Pub 🫎

I had dinner at Maple Moose Pub and it was such a great spot for a chill evening with Kamsi🥰. Cozy downtown vibes, not too crowded, good ventilation, beautiful decoration, and the lighting was just right!

I got the Beef Dip Sandwich and oh my… 🤤. Shaved roast beef on a Vienna loaf with Jack cheese, crispy onions, and garlic aioli, served with a very flavourful “au jus” dip. At first glance, I was a bit worried that the beef might be dry, but a dip in the au jus took it to another level — rich, tasty, and paired perfectly with the sandwich.

The house salad was fresh and crunchy, adding a nice balance to the dish. For $19.21 (tax included), I honestly couldn’t ask for more. Plus, our server Megan was friendly, and the food arrived in about 15 minutes!

Kamsi got a burger 🍔 and fries, and liked it, but I didn’t taste because I was a little too full from my meal.

Honestly, I wouldn’t change a thing about the meal. I usually like my dishes peppery, but I understand not everything can be that way 😂.

This place is definitely one I can return to. Good food, good vibes, and fair pricing.
