Garbage at The Cabin. 1351 Armour road location. Brought my The Cabin at Trent card in to be stamped and purchase a large fries like I do every summer. Last year the fries were spectacular. And this is how it started for me. It was a busy day. But I waited in line for those irresistible fries. Waited in the shade for about 30 minutes. Though something might be wrong that it was taking so long. I went up to the counter. I saw large fries sitting on the rack. The cook in the back said to the brown man, “are you going to serve those their getting cold?” The brown man looked at the receipt and turned around and called my name. I said thank you and took them away. I loaded the fries as usual with malt vinegar and some seasoning salt. My mouth was watering. My wife was happy they finally arrived. The first bite was cold. So I dug a little deeper and they were cold, room temp. They had that dry waxy texture in the mouth like they were a day old at home. At home that’s alright because is microwave them and voila fresh again. So I went back to ask for a repeat order due to this condition. Well, the brown man said I was calling you. I said excuse me don’t you dare lie so to your inefficiency. He really did seem overwhelmed at this point. The cook said to cook another batch. The brown man was cooking them while the cook was watching him. The cook had to give cues to not shake it so much and to remove them because their overcooking. I wasn’t sure why the cook didn’t take over. After the fries came out they say while the brown man was looking at other orders as if he had forgotten that he was cooking that specific batch for me. I said hey give me my cooked fries before they get cold all over again and you have to do this for a third time. I apologe. No complementary pop. Nothing. The lady’s last year were fantastic. Something has changed this year. The fries were dry maybe overcooked again or consistently. I will not ever be returning even if you offer some compensation. Don’t bother to contact me I do not use Facebook. There’s a new truck just north of you. You don’t deserve a star but I had to in order to submit...
Read moreIt was a rainy Thursday mid-October noon when we dined here. It is good that close to half of the dining area is covered with a roof to shield us from the rain. We were the only customers present during the early part. Later on one other customer came in as we were finishing up.
We were welcomed warmly by the lady over the counter who made the order process very easy. The menu is also conveniently available posted on the wall to the side of the counter.
The food was fine. I sampled the Trail Burger (sautéed mushrooms & mozzarella cheese), and my companion ordered the large poutine. My friend commented that the poutine could use some more gravy the way it originally came out. When she went to the counter to ask for more gravy she was quickly provided some. The burger itself was good, but it was not filling. Other burger orders from different places would have left me more full than the one I had here.
I was disappointed that it was cash only. There is an ATM available, but the service charge seemed unreasonably high at $2 for the...
Read moreWent for lunch with my husband and son and while the chicken Cesar wrap was amazing the poutine was less desirable. We got the little poutine and while the size was good for sharing it was like sharing a basket of fries not a poutine. When you order a poutine at the price they are charging you want cheese curd and gravy going all the way through, you want it messy this was NOT that. It was a very small amount of cheese just on top and the gravy just covered it. The top was good but after that it was nothing special. I mentioned it to the staff and they said I could have come back up for more gravy but that's not the point I shouldn't have to get up wait in line and in front of waiting customers ask for more gravy on a poutine when there should be enough and would I have been charged for more gravy... I should have asked.. that's not the point... very...
