June 5 Saturday - Horrible customer service! Called 40 mins ago to ask if they are open and have patio dining. The lady who answered said yes and I told her we are coming for dine in at the patio and she said ok. We drove 35 minutes to arrive to this KABSA restaurant and the same lady who spoke to me said they have no food and this was at 6:30. “We have no food” And she later on blabbered that we should have confirmed if they have food or not. What the hell? What is the purpose of confirming a patio dining if we were not to ordered food. She was not even apologetic and seem not to care. I asked her again is there no food at all as we drove 30 minutes just to arrive to this place? She said none and she seem to even blame me that I did not confirm if I wanted something. I expressed my disappointment and said that I will certainly write a review of this restaurant and she just simply said “ I DON’T CARE”. With an attitude like this coming from the core staff of this restaurant, visiting them again is not worth the drive. The lady should have handled it with empathy knowing that 2 customers drove all the way. Proposed options like ask if we could wait or something. But NO! She was straightforward rude. Unbecoming of someone in the restaurant business. Stay away from this restaurant! They are arrogant and rude! Even if their food is good, with a service like this I don’t think I will have stomach for it. If they can spit to our faces just like that, how can I be sure that they will not spit on our...

Tucked away in a tiny strip mall Northeast of the city, this establishment serves up some delicious authentic middle-eastern cuisine.
In addition to kebabs as one is accustomed to seeing in any middle eastern restaurant in the west - Kabsa as the name suggests serves Kabsa! Kabsa is different proteins (Chicken or Lamb) cooked with a blend of spices and layered on a bed of seasoned rice. For those familiar with Indian cuisine - Kabsa is an arab equivalent of the Biryani. Along with Kabsa, they serve Chicken Mendi (Steamed chicken with whole spices) and Lamb Haneeth (slow roasted lamb).
For $15.99, I got half a chicken, loads of rice, a side salad, side lentil soup and home made hot dips! What a steal!
Does it get any better - Ofcourse it does. Their service is remarkable. Very humble and generous individuals whose goal is to ensure their customers leave happy.
However, if you want to bite into their traditional menu, ensure you don't arrive too late in the night as they are normally sold out - Which I truly appreciate! Nothing beats food prepared fresh daily.
Plan a night out at Kabsa the next time your stomach grumbles - you won't be...
Read moreWhile exploring Edmonton, I stumbled upon this hidden gem near a Starbucks. I was enjoying a coffee when I noticed it and decided to give it a try. After spending a few months in Saudi Arabia earlier this year, I was craving the authentic flavours of Middle Eastern cuisine, and this place absolutely delivered.
When I first arrived, the staff seemed a bit reserved, but after a short while, they became warm, welcoming, and exceptionally courteous. The interior was clean and the menu boasted a solid variety of traditional dishes. I opted for an Ayran drink and Chicken Kabsa: nicely roasted chicken served over fragrant rice, accompanied by a small salad and a bowl of lentil soup—a personal favourite. Everything tasted fresh, generously portioned, and deeply reminiscent of the flavours I enjoyed in Jeddah.
The Ayran drink, which is ubiquitous in Saudi Arabia yet rare in Canada, was a delightful touch that perfectly complemented the meal. How I have missed it!
Though I didn’t come here expecting a culinary revelation, I left satisfied and smiling. If you’re seeking comfort food with authentic Middle Eastern flair, this place is definitely worth a visit. I look forward...
