We ordered the seafood chowder and oysters. The oysters are wild and caught from the Pinette river which is 5 min away from the restaurant. The oysters are eaten raw. We've never eaten raw oysters before. Only my mom and I ate the oysters. My dad isn't a seafood lover. The oysters tasted very fresh and tasted like the ocean, a bit salty and delicious. Adding the lemon and the horseradish gave the oysters a little kick. The seafood chowder was creamy and delicious. We also never had seafood chowder before. I heard and read that this restaurant had some really good chowder. They have free and very cold water in the water cooler tank outside. They have plastic utensils and cups. Total cost was $40.25. There's a nice view of the ocean and beach/ocean floor at low tide. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. Dog friendly restaurant. They have water bowls for your furry friends. You can take photos of the Point Prim Lighthouse from here and of the low tide.

Beautiful view of Northumberland Strait and Pownal Bay. Staff was friendly. We had heard good/rave reviews about the the chowder, and looked forward with great anticipation to a meal there. We were disappointed! The Ultimate Clam Chowder was average. Not filled with shellfish and more soupy than chowder, more bacon than shellfish. The creamy seafood chowder was heavily laden with onion. We had the warm lobster roll as well. We were surprised to see it arrive at the table as a hotdog bun out of a Ben's bread package. The hotdog bun contained two small claws and knuckle meat. Served with no side, this was not remotely close to the $19 price tag. As mentioned a great view in a unique setting with friendly staff. The food, that we looked forward to with such anticipation, was quite disappointing. Can say we have done Pt. Prim Chowderhouse, but won't return. There are better chowder options available on the Island.

Two words - Steamed Clams. The Point Prim Chowder House was the only place we found on our trip around the Maritimes in late July and early August with steamed whole clams. Fried clams are everywhere but steamed clams are hard to find. We had a picnic at the Lighthouse but could not resist the steamed clams. The outdoor patio on a clear sunny day also reminded us of the Caribbean, with a light breeze off the water and the airy awning flapping gently. Service was good. No need to wait to be seated, just go in and order at the counter. You are shown to your table after you order - inside or out. The baked oysters were very good as well. We were only given 5 oysters instead of the 6 on the menu but the manager ordered 3 more for us on the house. Sadly, these 3 never came either but we highly recommend the Chowder House to anyone looking for fresh seafood, not fried.

Be aware, this place is busy! We love chowder and we were told that this place had the best chowder on the island but it was very out of the way. Because it was so off of the beaten path we did not expect to see the volume of guests being served. Of course we had not made a reservation. But we were not turned away. We were told that we could order from the takeaway window and enjoy our food at the tables by the water. This option was perfect for us. Our order arrived within a reasonable time even though it was super busy. We had the chowder , of course, and a biscuit. The chowder was good, but not the best on the island for sure. It was pretty watery but it was loaded with potato and fish and very tasty. The biscuit was very good. It was a well sized portion that was warm and came with a pat of butter. Overall, the experience was not too disappointing but we found the food very overpriced. $13.95 for a small bowl of chowder and $2.95 for the biscuit. We will...
