Went in for lunch - maybe the lady was stressed but when you’re in the business of serving the public it’s terrible to make them feel bad for using your service. We are a family of 5 and went in with our relatives - a family of 3. Our relatives ordered separately from us and sat down, then we heard her being rude to the people who were in line before us, saying ‘we’ll I’ll have to wipe the table down for you’ (in a way that it was an inconvenience to her). We were next - after my husband placed his order, she snapped at us, asking how much more we wanted to order and pointed out the sign that said large groups aren’t accommodated. I asked if a family of 5 was too large and and said rudely that it would be at least 45 minutes wait. We would have been fine with that but she was so rude we cut our order to items that were ready in the display only. We then heard her being rude to the people behind us as well! My son wanted one more item so once it had slowed down I went to ask for it - she was talking to someone she knew when I went up and was saying ‘my day will get better when I close’. Will not go in there again and would definitely warn anyone we know visiting Haida Gwaii not to go in there. Plenty of other places on the Island to choose from where the people lovely and friendly. Food was...

Located inside an unassuming building with no signage so as to keep it more of a hidden gem, we ate for lunch here and the scratched made food was hearty and plentiful.
Our special today was creamy asparagus and zucchini soup with a grilled pastrami Rueben. The portion was enough for the two of us and we were able to order one of the test kitchen items which were amazing!
It was so good we ordered a bunch of other baking to go and ate them up (carrot cake, Nanaimo bars, and sausage rolls) as they were so good, even a couple days later!
Be patient if it is busy as it is a one person operation but it is worth the wait! The business takes cash or e-transfer only. If you are in this region, definitely make this one...
Read moreOne of my favorite cafes in BC, nevermind just Haida Gwaii. I went there 1 - 3 times a week for months while living in Haida Gwaii. The sandwiches and wraps are to die for! I still think about them all the time. And the service is wonderful, Deb is so lovely and accomodating. I loved seeing her every morning while picking up my morning coffee and breakfast sandwhich....
