My wife and I went to the Capri for our anniversary as we had heard good things about the food being excellent so we thought we would try it! Previously it had been a pizza place and then a beachy bar with hotdogs, burgers, and basic pub food. We were aware on Capri's opening that it was a little pricey at 25 to 35 dollar plates as well as starters for 15 to 20. We also heard that the Italian dishes were excellent and that is certainly true. So we made a reso for 7 pm in the inside seating area in case of bad weather or even heat as it was through those 35 degree heat days and had it confirmed by email. When we arrived they didn't have the reservation ... I showed them the email and they seated us inside. The inside area consists of a long bar area and 5 or 6 tables. It would probably seat 20 people? It was quite nice but a little dark so we asked for if there was a table outside we would love to be outside ... it was a beautiful night ... they were very accommodating and we waited just a few minutes and we were seated outside. We enjoyed a drink and some garlic bread at our table and were prepared for just an enjoyable, leisurely experience and looked forward to our traditional Italy food experience. We had seen a sound board in the corner of the patio when we arrived and assumed there would be a dj or a one man band and looked forward to that experience as well. Just before our food arrived the dj announced it was time for karaoke! We were surprised the participants were mainly kids which although cute were not necessarily what we expected out of our night ... we enjoyed our dinner and were even pleasantly surprised at a complimentary slice of blueberry cheesecake for our anniversary. Our bill was somewhere around $190 with tip. So if you go for the food it is great Italian and the pizzas looked good too. Note to management though. If you are going to have a menu with 30 dollar plates pls make those patrons aware that there are special nights when they could be serenaded! There may be some people that would not appreciate...
Read moreIt was our first time dining at Capri yesterday on April 26th and it was a very pleasant experience overall with one exception. We had calamari to start and then we got the chicken supreme and the Parmesan & Herb crusted salmon. Both were delicious.
The only thing about the salmon is that the herbs that were used weren’t my favourite. There’s no reason for me to remove a star though because this is purely personal preference. I don’t like parsley lol.
The atmosphere was super cozy and I love how the lights were dim and how they put candles on to light our table and surroundings.
Now, our waitress Trisha…where do I even begin? She was fantastic! She was kind and she went above and beyond! I asked her what sauce accompanied the calamari and what herbs were used on the salmon. She went to find out for me, and she returned right away. She was on the ball with filling up our water and remembering our order perfectly.
The ONLY thing that really got on my nerves and made the dining experience totally unpleasant was this table of, I believe 6 people, that were playing music loudly on their phone for the whole restaurant to hear, singing extremely loud, hollering at the tv, etc. I found this incredibly rude as they had no care in the world for other diners. It was very inconsiderate. People are going there to enjoy their meal, and they didn’t respect that. This is no fault of the restaurant owners or management, but I basically had to yell my order out to the waitress because of how obnoxious that table was. Trisha was apologetic of this situation.
Overall, we look forward to returning to Capri because the food is great, the service is top notch, and we loved the candlelit dining...
Read moreWe have been to Capri Restaurant and Bar a total of 4 times. It is a good value for the money. The food is generally excellent. It has on occasion arrived cold. The service is extremely slow and inconsistent and there is no need for it since enough staff is working but they’re too busy congregating at the bar and chit chatting. It is clearly an absentee owner run establishment. The temperature is far too cold to be comfortable. The music is far too loud to enjoy conversation with dinner guests in an establishment that tends to be finer dining. And country music blaring is definitely not what one expects to hear in an Italian establishment. The last time I was there I mentioned that the music was an odd choice and loud for the size of the dining room. And the bartender responded in a confrontational type way that he and the rest of staff enjoy that music. My most recent experience was perhaps the worst. We requested that our drinks be made a certain way, and they weren’t. When we ordered a second round we asked for them to be again made a certain way and the bartender (a younger man) felt the need to talk about us loudly to a patron at the bar about not needing to be told how to mix a drink. Clearly, this shows his lack of professionalism and experience working at a bar because he then proceeded to be passively aggressive and loudly state that no one else has a problem with his drinks. It’s unfortunate that a restaurant with a great location and great potential meets their clients with this type of service and attitude. Hope this review will be looked upon as a constructive way to move forward as opposed to a disgruntled patron, because that’s not at all...
