Had lunch there last Saturday. Arrived at 11.45 were seated and given menu waitress took our drink order. When she came back I asked about the brunch menu. She said its over at 12 and its 11.58. i thought well ok I have been to other restaurants that will serve it that close but its ok. So I ordered the fish and chips and mentioned to server I also wanted the seafood chowder to go. As I have had it there several times and it was amazing. Anyway when came time to pay their machines were down so waitress wrote my cc info on receipt to put thru later. All was great. Sunday I checked my cc and no transaction showed so I called the restaurant to see if payments were processed person on phone said yes all but one as it was expired. She said are you the lady that took the chowder to go I said ues. She said u gave us an old expired cc. I said no my cc is not expired and regave her the info and asked her to put it thru again as the bill was 142 with tip. She later called me back to say thank you for calling as they previously didnt have my numbet. I said of course. I did mention my chowder thst I opened yesterday was very disappointing. No shrimp 1 scallop and 4 mussels. She said the menu had it noted no shrimp . I said no it did not. She rgen said I should have asked if there were shrimp. i said why would the customer nwed to ask the menu said scallips shrimp fish mussels if was lovster 1 oz 5 dolkars. I added the lobster . However my chowder had 1 scallip no shrimp no fish and the lobster I added for x charge 1 piece. She then said the chwf gave u an x scallop as no shrimp I said no I have only 1 scallop and its overcooked.I also said I found it pretty insulting to have been told I gave an old expired cc. As the waitress wrote the info down sheshould have seen it then. She did apilogize as she said yes the server did write the wrong expiry date. So what was a great Saturday lunch turned into a dissapointing chowder and rather...

My wife and I went to the Port Pub for our anniversary this past weekend. We chose it as it was one of the more "upscale" restaurants in the area. My wife has some minor food allergies (onions and bacon) that we made the server aware of, and that these are not "fatal" and that some forms of onion were fine (such as green onion, onion powder, etc). We were treated like lepers. She was given a choice of 4 possible foods, one of which was hummus and chips....for dinner! She chose a pan fried haddock and a salad, but was told that all their salad dressings had onion, including Caesar?? so "she could not have salad". No options offered. Apparently the "chefs" they use, are incapable of mixing balsamic vinegar and olive oil, but rather only serve from supermarket bottles. The haddock was literally a filet with plain flour fried, without any sort of spices, or even salt and pepper. It was what you might expect in a hospital if on a doctor ordered bland diet. My wife barely touched it and was so upset she left the restaurant.

When I asked (and I did "ask", not nasty, not accusing, trying not to be difficult, but wanted her to understand why we were not happy) the server why their "chefs" could not simply improve something (like a vinegar/oil dressing, or maybe some flavour on the fish), I was told "at least I know what to expect the next time we come to the restaurant". REALLY? No fear of there being a next time.

Top this off with the restaurant (inside) was swarmed with houseflies that we had to fight off the whole time while trying to eat. Only consolation was there were less inside than outside on patio. Nothing like fresh from caw pasture flies crawling all over your food.

Dinner ruined, anniversary ruined. ...

I was not impressed at all!! We reserved for a bigger group so I understand that can be stressful but still. All of our tables were extremely wobbly our food and drinks were moving around all night and they were sticky, our server Chloe was not friendly at all, again I can understand maybe she’s having a bad day and bigger groups can be a lot but she was snappy and just seemed like she did not want us to be there and she did not want to be serving us. The food was nothing special, we were also upcharged for things we were not told would be an upcharge like to get a side Cesar salad with no flavour would be an extra $2.50 we were given smaller menus that they would prefer us to order from as a bigger group which I can understand and then there was one normal menu for us to share in case we wanted something else, when we ask what the sides were we were told the list but we were never told that the salads were an up charge or the onion rings were an up charge so we just assumed that everything was the same price only to then get the receipt and be an extra charge. One member of our group was 7 and ordered off the kids menu and it says it comes with a drink (either juice or pop) so she ordered a rootbeer and then once again when we got the bill there was a $4 upcharge and when we asked they said rootbeer does not count as pop. It was a group of probably 30 of us and we only had the one waiter who again was rude and snappy. I have never left a review for a restaurant good or bad but after this I could not not...

Ordered grilled cheese for my son, one bread alice is burnt (as in dark), and the other, just fine. Nothing special about it. Raised the burnt bread concern to the server, as per the receipt, they gave us a manager discount for that. Lamb burger for the spouse; he liked it, I don’t. For me, the meat is so... meaty (?). Definitely tastes different than the usual meats I consume (pork, beef, chicken). The seafood pasta is good. There were a few pieces of fish, small lobster claws, and 3 shrimps. The sauce is so creamy and cheesy, perfect with the 2 bread slices that came with it. Wasn’t able to finish it though, bec at the end, it just got too salty for my taste. We ordered ginger beer which is waaay better than Canada Dry, for me, bec it’s not too sweet and it has a strong ginger after-taste. Tried the blueberry cream soda; liked it at first, but realized it’s just too sweet for me. The reception area is a bit dark and uninviting. There were a lot of stuff to look at, like brochures, trinkets, decors. The server was very friendly and upbeat. The dining area has a warm cozy feeling to it. Overall, this resto is good enough to eat at, for experience. But not enough for us to return to. 3 out of 5 stars.

The Port Pub Bistro is open for business! It keeps quite strictly to all sanitary practices during this reopening phase of things, but that doesn't seem to have wiped away their customer service or culinary skills! Myself and my party came in on a Sunday and were seated quite quickly after a brief hand sanitizing and our orders placed. I had the Seafood Fettuccini with a Blueberry Ale and a Chocolatey Almond coffee for dessert. Each item was fantastic and reinforced the already positive feelings I had about this place! I confess that I shared in the Chocolate Caramel Crunch cake with another member of my party, and it was wonderfully moist and the caramel drizzle was just right. The food aside, the service also was a treat. The staff were friendly, fast and so quiet they seemed to appear from thin air at times to check in and make sure everything was going well. Also, despite everyone wearing masks, they still were very friendly and eager to ensure we had a pleasant dining experience. Based on mine and my party's reaction and conversation after heading out, I'm confident in saying they succeeded! P.S There's a Pokemon GO Gym and Stop at this location, as well as a great view of the mudscape!

We live near the Port but have not visited in a few months. Since we had a sitter for our son I suggested my wife and I go to the Port for a date night. The following is not our typical experience at The Port in the past. During the reasonable 15 minute wait for a table we were bombarded by an unreasonable amount of flies in the entrance area. We order a local beer each which did not arrive at our table until we were well past the half way point of our meal. When the beer arrived it was a bad pour of good beer. We had to ask twice to get water as well. We ordered the cheese plate; it was OK but I expected more than two types of cheese and more than one piece of bread. The potato skin nachos were good but we asked for an extra sour cream once the plate arrived but did not get it until we were almost done. We were disappointed with our overall experience this time. I hope it is better next time.
