Echoes Restaurant — Restaurant in Powassan

We were traveling through to North Bay and my dad suggested we stop here for lunch as he had eaten here before and really enjoyed the food. We get there and it's busy. Which is fine and we had to wait for a table. After we got a table, the waitress served the people behind us first and when we went to order drinks and our lunch she would only take our drink order and said she had to worry about the other couple who she served before us. We then waited about 15 minutes to place our food order. Then other tables came in and she served them. Two other tables received food, even though we had ordered well before them.

The couple she served before us had eaten and paid and left and it was about an hour and we had not received our food (a burger and grilled cheese). We asked where our lunch was and she said the cook was really busy, which we said that we understood but 3 tables now had received food and they came in after us. She said she would check and apparently she never placed our order!

We were running late to where we needed to be so we just paid for our drinks and left.

If you are not local, perhaps skip this place because they are not welcoming, rude, and totally forgot about us.

Too bad because the food did look really good, but we did not...

Small diners, like this one, often give a great food/service/home town dining experience. Super friendly staff, good service, reasonable pricing and add the close, local banter and I'm happy. The moment we arrived we were greeted by the most energetic, caring lady that I have ever met in the dining industry. Seriously. She was AMAZING!! The food we ordered?...not so much. My soup loving wife ordered the split pea soup of the day. She didn't enjoy it at all. I asked our server what dish their diners enjoyed most and was told "everything". I hadn't had fish and chips for a while so that's what I ordered. When triangular fish arrive on my plate, I know it wasn't one of the "everything" to be expected favorites. It was awful. What saved the dish were the best chips/fries to be found anywhere on the planet. Hope to try it again sometime if, for no other reason, to enjoy the wonderful personality of our...

My experience at Echoes Restaurant in Powassan was amazing. Judy was incredibly attentive, friendly, and one of the hardest-working people I've seen in a restaurant setting.

The food was fresh and delicious—I especially appreciated the sausage being cut in half, giving it that extra grill taste and satisfying crunch.

The space itself was bright, clean, and welcoming, and the coffee hit the spot.
