The food was ok and the atmosphere was great - the decor is fun and colourful, with flags hanging from the ceiling and murals on every wall. The service, however, was poor and left us feeling ignored. I really hate to think that all of this is because we were the only visibly LGBT+ couple in the establishment, but I really have no other idea why we received the treatment we got.
My wife and I were seated, our orders were taken, and that was pretty much the end of the customer service we received. It was lunch time on a weekday, so it wasn't too crowded, so I'm not sure what happened. We received our drinks and chatted, holding hands, waiting for our appetizer. While we waited for our food, we noted that every other table in the establishment was visited several times to be checked on, have their drinks refilled, checking on appetizers and entrees, etc. while they never swung back to check on us aside from very quickly dropping off our food.
I wasn't a huge fan of the horchata I received (I was expecting it to be sweet) and wanted to order another drink, but never got the chance. Our appetizer never appeared. Our food took 40 minutes and the server disappeared so quickly after dropping it off we couldn't make any requests, or ask about the missing appetizer. No one came to check on us during the meal either.
Every other patron who went to the till to pay was greeted, asked how their food was, and chatted with in a friendly manner, but we got barely a sentence. The servers also wouldn't look us in the face, which was incredibly strange. We paid, making sure the appetizer was taken off the bill, and left. My wife and I didn't feel welcomed and I don't think we'll be returning. Unless there's a good explanation for the treatment we received, I think we'll be telling our friends and family that this establishment isn't...
Read moreThere was a lot of miscommunication, we had gone in as a group of 3 and sat down to have dinner and drinks. The staff were nice, but we ran into issues when they 1st provided our food packed up to go, then they had one of our meal orders wrong, and then they also took our side of guacamole as a starter guacamole.
They did fix the order and then they told us they would “comp” the order they placed incorrectly. The food overall was bland and the staff never really apologized for the issues. The owner is the one we spoke to about the mistakes and she acted like she was taking a huge financial hit by correcting the $13 guacamole chips starter that, again, we did not order. We had only ordered it as an addition to the burrito, which had been $4.
Very disappointed with this restaurant and would not recommend and will purposefully tell...
Read moreThis has got to be the most authentic Mexican cuisine I’ve experienced on the entire sunshine coast. The flavours were absolutely amazing. I recommend the tostadas! They blew my mind 🤤 The food was cooked to perfection. We had zero complaints. They had tons of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options. Their menu was large, but not so much that you get overwhelmed. A wonderful variation of options and flavors. The drinks are also extremely delicious here! The service is impeccable. The woman who owns this place has the biggest smile when she serves the tables and she always knows when you need something. I’ve never had such attentive service! The prices were beyond fair, and there was really nice patio seating. This has honestly been one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had. If you’re in Powell River, you need to check this...
