Old Bank Cafe — Restaurant in Quinte West

I recently enjoyed lunch at this unique cafe, and was blown away by the quality of the food/drinks and handmade baked goods. Not living in the area, I was drawn in by the schnitzel and potato salad lunch. It was so delicious that I was glad to have ordered extra to take home! The Italian orange soda and pistachio latte were incredibly flavourful, as were the homemade chocolate cookies. Knowing I wouldn't have an opportunity to return soon, I purchased several other baked goods to have at home, and they have been enjoyed by the rest of my family (Nanaimo bar, rum cake, apple & walnut strudel and a variety of cookies). Great care and pride have gone into acknowledging the history of the bank through framed photos and prints throughout the restaurant. Where else can you say that you've had a chance to eat inside a converted bank vault?! As this cafe is along the waterfront, I look forward to dining on their outdoor patio in warmer weather. Kudos to the owners - it is clear that pride of ownership, a dedication to customer service, a unique dining experience, delicious home-made meals and baked goods are what will keep satisfied customers returning again and again to this local...

They’ve thought of everything in this newer offering downtown Frankford (established spring of 2019)! Of course the coffee needs to be great, and it’s close (I’d like a bit of a darker and more full bodied blend, but not everyone wants this). They have Swiss water decaf available (versus chemically decaffeinated) and prices are fair and reasonable across the board.

The baking is done in house and top notch. Decor is a perfect balance between modernity and functionality with fascinating art work honouring the history of the building and local environs. There is ample seating room with unique spaces that allow for private conversation, including an 8 top table tucked inside the old bank vault.

As a 25 year ‘local’ I haven’t seen anything as close to perfection in the ‘coffee shop’ category in Quinte. And as someone who travels frequently and drinks a lot of coffee while doing so, this is one of my favourite places. So glad I get to enjoy it close to...
