Atmosphere was unexpected, from what I've usually experienced in the town. Kind of a hip meets hick vibe with the decor being hip and myself being a hick.
We found the music although good was too loud to talk, I blame that on bad acoustics. (To be expected from the fancy ceiling) The centrally positioned large bar looked inviting and popular with the locals. With that interesting ceiling.
I thought the menu was limited in selection which isn't necessarily a bad thing, just funny considering the drink menu was three times as long as the food offering! As for the food, the burgers looked good coming out of the kitchen, I didn't have the burger... i selected the mussels with fench fries (odd pairing we thought). Sadly the fries looked and tasted more like a bowl of burnt dark grease. Not good even by my low standards.
The mussels were cooked well and were a generous portion, visually appealing in a white broth. I found the broth far too hot to pluck the shells from with my fingers to extract the mussels. They provided a spoon but I've always used my hands as did two other of my dining companions who had the same issue with their mussels. The broth itself for me was salty for my liking, nothing special flavor wise to make me order it again.
We had the charcuterie board as a starter it came with options of the standard meat, cheese, crisp bread, pickles and nuts and a fruit chutney. And it was portioned enough for two people to share. The options for starters were reasonable and interesting if you're going for drinks and a nibble. Drink prices were reasonable with several options, my dining companions raved about their fancy pink cocktails.
The place seemed busy for a Sunday evening with what appeared one waitress, two cooks and a bartender who were doing their best to manage. I've noticed it's impossible to find anyone to work in the service industry so longer waits to be expected everywhere. Be patient.
I had a beer and the reflective liquid looking ceiling to entertain my short attention span while I waited. Next time I'll know to not order the French fries. But I'd come back for the drinks and charcuterie! And maybe try the burger with a...
Read moreTried this place for breakfast for the first time, and it was honestly a bad experience from start to finish. It took over 20 minutes just to place our order, and the menu was nothing special. My boyfriend paid $1 extra to switch to hash browns, but they just served cubed potatoes—not fresh at all.
I ordered a breakfast that included creton, but no one mentioned they were out of it until I asked—and they still charged us for it. The bacon was paper-thin and barely edible. To make things worse, the coffee mugs were dirty, and no one refilled our coffee or even brought us water. I had to get up and grab ketchup and hot sauce myself from their service station.
The service was incredibly slow and careless. Between the poor food quality, lack of cleanliness, and inattentive staff, this place is definitely not worth coming back to...
I haven`t yet tasted the food at this fun bar but am sure it is excellent judging by other characteristics of this fun bar called La Queen on Queen Street in Rawdon. Two workers had a meal there and it looked hearty and tasty. The restaurant/bar has been operating for some seven years, and unfortunately was unknown to me until two weeks ago when we stopped for a beer and a drink.
They have a great balcony running along the street and the alleyway where you can sit outside with your drink and your meal if you like. The back terrace is huge and worth checking out.
The staff are very friendly - two brothers are owners there and have been for the past three years. Gabriel and Loftie who are personable, helpful and very approchiable. The restrooms were plentiful and relatively well-kept.
Whether you are stopping by with friends or collegues after work, you`ll be sure to enjoy your afternoon or evening at this lively young, friendly bar.
