I rarely leave negative reviews but I feel compelled to do this because I did not find our meal to be good value or a pleasant experience. This review is solely for the sushi on their menu, I can't comment on the other dishes. For context, I used to live in Vancouver, so I've eaten a lot of both cheap and high quality sushi, and I'm familiar with supermarket sushi in SK from living here for 10 years and have realistic expectations about the quality this far from the ocean. I took out a large group for lunch and we ordered a sushi platter and a couple of items for people with specific dietary needs. The sushi platter was smaller than anticipated, served in take-out containers even though we were eating in. The containers were the fish and chips kind, it was an unappetizing presentation, that's forgivable of course if the food is good but it was on the order of mediocre supermarket sushi in my opinion. The dynamite roll had too much mayonnaise in it and was bland. Our sushi did not come with wasabi, soy sauce, or ginger, I had to go up and specially request the wasabi and soy sauce. For $42 for the platter and an overall bill over $80, one would expect basic condiments to come out with the meal without us having to chase them up. Another odd thing was green tea wasn't served with our meal or apparently even an option on the menu, all they had was soft drinks and water you had to pay for. This is bizarre, I've never been to a Japanese food restaurant without a tea option, and usually it's automatic with your order. I won't comment on the service aside from saying it was on the brusque side. On a positive note, we didn't get...
Read moreI have tried so many asian restaurants through Canada and this one is one of the worst. After I have walked into the restaurant, no one took me to a seat or so, the servers are just doing their stuff and sometimes they had a peak at me without saying anything. After I have watched how other people order, I figured out that I should stay in the line and pick what I want first, and then go to the counter and pay(This makes me feel like it's a KFC or MacDonald). I ordered one tonkatsu ramen(pork ramen), one chicken ramen and a small fried chicken, it cost me $48, and they want tips. Anyways, I thought with this price(you could get more food in Vancouver's best ramen place), the food should be good. And after the server put my bowl randomly on the side of the table and leave, I figured out that both of the ramen taste exactly like Shin Ramyun (one kind of instant ramen which you can get it in Walmart for $1.28 a pack). There are also some fried pork cutlet on it, which taste not crunchy as it should be. The small fried chicken has 6 pieces. The sauce is thin, meat are not fresh which are hard to chew. After I have finished my ramen, the server is staring at me while I am eating the fried chicken. It seems that there is no enough seats for people that are ordering their food. So I finished my food in a hurry and then leave. This is absolutely a horrible experience. Please don't waste your...
Read moreI rarely leave bad reviews, but the staff at this sushi restaurant made it impossible not to. From the moment we walked in, it felt like we were an inconvenience rather than valued customers. The hostess barely acknowledged us and acted annoyed when we asked about our reservation. We were seated 20 minutes late with no apology.
The server seemed completely uninterested—rushed through the specials, rolled their eyes when we asked questions, and forgot half our order. When we politely pointed it out, they were dismissive and borderline rude. The whole interaction felt cold and unwelcoming.
To make matters worse, we noticed staff chatting and laughing among themselves while customers were clearly waiting to be served. It’s one thing if the food is great (which it wasn’t—average at best), but when the service is this bad, it ruins the entire meal.
Not coming back. There are plenty of other sushi places where they actually care about...
