Rarely can you find from-scratch cooking like this anymore. And especially on the west side of the city, we are starved for good local restaurants.
An absolute must-try. In my 40 years, this is the BEST clubhouse I have ever had, and I have had them at dumps and 5-stars across North America. Look at that thing, it is absolutely stacked, but it's not stacked willy-nilly, it is perfectly balanced between the different high quality ingredients, and the marble rye is perfectly crisp. So much so that, since I couldn't finish and took the 2nd half of my clubhouse home, 6 hours later the bread was not soggy and the whole second half of the sandwich was still good to eat at home. I usually don't get the middle slice of bread, but it was an complete pleasure here.
They bread their own chicken burgers too and my girlfriend loved her honey-dill chicken burger. I tried a piece of the chicken and it was tight tight too.
The fries are homemade and good on their own. I had a poutine and the gravy had a slightly funny flavour (or it was the cheese, but either way, the gf's regular fries didnt have the strange flavour), so I probably won't try that again.
Good news is they have more menu items like the reuben, cajun chicken sandwich, and cajun fettucini that I am super stoked to try as well!
There's no pictures of the soup because I was way too excited and ate it before the camera flash. It was super good, and you guessed it, homemade as...
Read moreBefore I post a review I always visit the place twice ... I have learned that different shift and employees can make a big difference on a review..in my opinion.. last night ( Thursday) food and service was disappointing... Ordered steak medium well and all veggies no potato or garlic toast...asked what the veggies were and was told broccoli and carrots...my dinner came as a steak medium rare...mostly pink inside as the veggies consisted of a half of red and a half of green pepper and what mushrooms that were on the steak were over cooked and the 4 tiny grilled prawns as well were over grilled very greasy... The waitresses changed during my meal and service still very poor... This morning (Friday)... Waitress was very polite, very busy as she had full restaurant to serve by herself... But she was professional and polite...food on the other hand was just as bad as the night before... Poached hard eggs came out soft...ham was very greasy as well as hash browns... When I spoke to the waitress she was very apologetic for my experience but I reassured her that it was a kitchen issue and not hers... Very good waitress... Roxy's should be thankful for having her...
Read moreMy family of 3 arrived at Roxy's approximately 1 hour before it closed. We were seated at a table in the dining section and given menus, while the gentlemen working in the kitchen glanced at us and looked visibly annoyed upon realizing he would likely have to do his job. Before we ordered, the waitress asked us if we could move into the bar section because the dining section had already been cleaned. We immediately felt unwelcome, but agreed to move to a new, less comfortable table close to the bar. The waitress then informed us that we would have to hurry if we planned to order food. Feeling even more unwelcome, but not wanting to be impolite, we ordered one beer each and finished these drinks as fast as possible. The staff were sitting at a table next to us having a loud, unprofessional conversation while knowing there were still customers in the restaurant. After approximately 10 minutes we left while wondering in disbelief how this restaurant has not yet gone out...
