Restaurant Le Bergerac — Restaurant in Saguenay

It is never pleasant to write a bad review. If one goes to a place - a bar, a restaurant, anywhere - it is for having a good time, a nice experience. In the case of Le Bergerac was even worse: I couldn’t get there. I’m going to Saguenay in a couple of weeks and I wanted to make reservations at the best restaurants in the region, and Le Bergerac is in everybody’s list as one of the best. If it is one of the best reviewed restaurants in the area, it is because many people have had great meals there; that is something I cannot deny. I tried three times to reserve at Le Bergerac. The first, I used the contact form on their website. The next day a very rude lady called me; when I spoke in English she replied, not very nicely, that she didn’t speak English; when I switch to my not-very-good French, she hung up. Second time I used the reservation form on the website – that I didn’t see the first time – I never got a confirmation. Finally, I called. I respected the fact that they want people to speak French. Again, a very nasty lady told me that they won’t be open the day I would like to go. So that’s it. I won’t go to Le Bergerac, and now I will never go. Linda was our server and while we didn’t speak much French she was very patient and kind with us, she was genuinely so kind and lovely and the personification of hospitable! Everything was delicious, the duck was a bit over cooked and dry so I don’t recommend it but everything else was...

Étant de la région, j'ai entendu parler de ce resto des dizaines de fois, mais n'étais jamais allé, alors je m'attendais à quelque chose d'extraordinaire. Peut-être mes attentes étaient trop élevées, mais en général c'était décevant. Du côté du service, aucun problème, tout était très bien. La bouffe. Potage plutôt ordinaire, entrée de tataki de thon qui était super, morue correcte avec à côtés un peu fades (tranches de tomates avec huile, un peu d'olive et câpres) et bon dessert. En somme, c'était bien mais quand j'ai l'impression que je pourrais me faire facilement la même chose sans trop perdre de saveur, je ne peux être satisfait, surtout quand on pense au prix...
