This is the second time we've been here, and every time we go, it gets worse. The service is absolutely horrible. Will get your drink order taken within the first 15 minutes. Then, expect to wait about 20+ mins before anyone comes back to take your order. Then you can expect to wait another 45+ mins for your food, from the time you put your order in. If you order an appetizer, they won't even come back to take your main meal order until the appetizer is being served (which is what took 45+ mins). If you order anything to go, double-check everything... because there will always be at least 1 item ordered that will be wrong. Ordered the "CARAMEL Cheesecake, Extra Caramel", got the FRUIT Cheesecake (which I absolutely hate fruit Cheesecake), with a tiny squirt of Caramel on top. You'll essentially be chasing down your waitress the entire time. If you choose not to, then expect the whole process from being seated - until paying your bill, to take anywhere from 2-3hours.... And that will be on a SLOW DAY/NIGHT (We were 1 of 3 couples in the entire place, & we noticed one couple was just there for drinks out on the patio). As for the food... aside from my cheesecake to go being the wrong one (not to mention being charged extra, for the 'extra caramel', and not even getting extra caramel); I ordered the duck wings which were extremely overcooked (so they ended up being very tough, instead of succulent). My spouse ordered a Bloody Mary (pitcher) and ended up getting a (pitcher) of Ceasar. He didn't bother saying anything because he ended up liking the Ceasar. The lettuce in our Ceasar salad was BROWN, WILTED, & Slimey (not every piece, but quite a few pieces. We picked them out because we didn't want to wait another 45+ mins for a new appetizer/salad. We also ordered the baked Brie, which was probably the only food item that was up to par, although we were not made aware that the plate holding the Brie and Baguette pieces was going to be SCORCHING HOT (had to learn that one the hard way, unfortunately for my poor fingers/hand). My spouse also ordered the Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich/Roll, which I assumed was also decent as the only complaint I heard from him was about the abundance of onions and peppers (in ratio to the steak & cheese). In summary, for $148, we got: •Ridiculously slow service •Delicious Baked Brie (that came with a Mild Burn) •Rotten Salad •Pitcher of Ceasar (aka. The wrong drink) •The wrong dessert (which I hadn't noticed until I got home) •Dry, Hard, Over Cooked Duck Wings & •Philly Cheese steak sandwich/roll & fries (that were actually decent).
The only good thing about this place is the location/atmosphere itself. The dining areas are nice, especially in the summertime. They have a cute little outdoor patio as well. Although outdoor seating isn't necessarily the best. The tables and chairs are wobbly and quite low, I found anyway. But the inside seating is nice. Especially the tables by the big "garage-style doors" that get opened up in the summer...
Read moreExcellent service! At first seating, we ordered drinks. Our waitress was very knowledgable about whiskeys and ciders, and recommended very delicious drinks based on our tastes; We bought a bottle of the Laphroaig the next day. I have Celiac disease and therefore cannot have gluten- they were very good about going back&forth, asking the cooks what was safe. We ended up splitting a platter of Muscles as an entrée- which were good, though the sauce was lacking in flavour; In comparison to other white wine/cream sauces I've had, and felt a bit water-y. For off-season, the Muscles themselves were good, albeit a few were a tad gritty. For mains, we each ordered a "Big Dorch" burger ( I had mine without the bun) which was just delicious! The only thing I have to add was that it tasted like Pork- and the menu said Beef. But, I'm not mad, i prefer pork to beef anyway, and the burger was really good! The fries are also gluten-free (just potato) although I can't say they have a dedicated frier- so depending on your sensitivity level, that's at your own risk. Overall we had such a lovely experience. We were just returning from a funeral, and our spirits were uplifted. The staff, ambiance, and drink recommendations really made the experience- and we'll certainly go back to try their Ribs, Tuna Tataki, Tartares etc (which were...
Read moreWent here for an early Thursday celebration dinner and would have loved to stay longer! This seems like the place to be at night.
I don't speak/read french and am vegetarian but they were very accommodating. The owner even poked fun at me while everyone ate the blue cheese duck wings by bringing me a small appetizer of drink garnishes (olives and dilly beans). I was not overly hungry so I didn't get anything to start. It was nice to see everyone's personality, you can tell they love the place and what they are doing. I had the cavatelli with roasted veggies, cheese and almonds in a tomato sauce. They had offered a couple other meals to me that they could prepare meatless which was nice. My fiancé had chicken and I swear there was a whole chicken on the dish! Neither of us had room to finish our meals. The French fries were really good!
We stayed for quite a while and got coffee which at some places is garbage. The coffee was what you would expect at a local roastery! People started arriving for the evening and the place was packed by the time we left (7pm maybe). Would have loved to stay longer for drinks if we didn't have to drive back to Ottawa.
The atmosphere is excellent, food was great, and service was awesome! I believe we were served by Sean (owner?)...
