Disappointing Experience – Too Much Selling, Not Enough Hospitality
No bacon by default — and yes, it really does cost an extra $10. That alone gave the experience a strange tone. For an all-you-can-eat venue, something as simple and expected as bacon shouldn't be treated like a luxury add-on.
The food was underwhelming. I’d give it 2–3 stars on taste alone. Most items lacked seasoning and depth — I actually found myself reaching for the salt shaker, which I rarely do. Combined with the limited variety and add-on costs, it just didn't feel worth it.
The constant upselling was exhausting. At nearly every interaction, we were encouraged to buy something else — visit the bistro, try this, add that. It felt less like a meal and more like being pitched to. It came off scripted and impersonal, which took away from the dining experience. A bit more authenticity and warmth from staff would go a long way.
Portion sizes were tiny. Yes, it’s "all you can eat," but the portions served were so small, we had to repeatedly ask for more — and even then, it felt rationed. We left feeling more frustrated than full.
Suggestions for the business:
Rethink the pricing structure. If bacon or other premium items are too costly, adjust the base price and include them rather than tacking on extras.
Focus less on constant upselling and more on the guest experience — let the food and atmosphere speak for themselves.
Improve food quality and flavor. Small upgrades in ingredients and seasoning could make a big difference.
Make the all-you-can-eat concept feel generous, not restricted.
P.S. I'm giving 2 stars because I believe there's potential here. But if the response to this review is a generic "We strive to make all customers happy..." template, I’ll be updating it to 1 star. A real experience deserves a...
Read moreWe had an amazing experience here ! Had a small group reservation on Sunday. The food was great. The best caban a sucre menu we had in recent years ! You have to pay for bacon, but it's worth it ! Also, we had such a good waitress, she explained everything to us with a little bit of history about the place and its people. The shack is lacking outdoor activities such as a tractor or a big fireplace, but it compensates with great food and service . We would definitely return and would recommend this place without...
