Canoe Beach Cafe & Water Sports — Restaurant in Salmon Arm

Was asked to write details on my experience by the owner as to why I would give them 3 stars out of 5 - 2 months after they closed for the season.

I’m commenting 2 months after you closed for the season because I’ve been busy. I guess you close Aug 31? Anyway, I was there in August and i took two stars off because: There are no meal bundles. You have to buy everything separate. So for a burger and fries and a drink all bought separate costs around $20 bucks!!!!!! And that’s for a small basic fry, the cheapest burger on the menu, and a small fountain pop. That is CRAZY expensive. Would be nice to see options and meal deals. I was on the beach after we ate and got talking to another couple who brought it up to us saying they can never buy lunch there because it’s way to much for her, her husband and 3 kids. I agree. They make it impossible to get an affordable lunch. Not everyone has $100 to drop for 5 burgers, 5 small fries and 5 sodas. Should be options for more affordable burgers and fries. Some people will still opt for the better burger and the better fries but not everyone has that kind of money. My husband and I go out for expensive meals sometimes and don’t mind spending money on great food but when your at the beach it’s nice to have options for price friendly snacks. I did give 3/5 stars because the burger was really good! The fries were freshly cooked. So...

The food was indeed very fresh and tasty, but nothing special. The lobster roll was good, with real crab, but the portion was very small, just a hot dog–sized bun with crab filling. At $25, I didn’t find it worth the price. The fish burger was fine but basic, a standard fish patty with a slice of cheese and a leaf of lettuce. Good, but nothing extraordinary. Service was fast and super friendly, and we felt very welcome. There’s also a nice deck with about 10 tables under umbrellas, right by a peaceful, beautiful beach, a great location. I just wish the prices were lower or the portions...

There is a reason people literally line up around the fence for this place. Its not just the lobster rolls, burgers or donairs but Jimmy and Joyce. These two amazing people only care about providing wonderful service and an outstanding experience to the patrons on the beach. I had the pleasure of meeting them and working for them this season, and it was awesome. There are only a few days left for you to visit them this year, make the effort and get down there. The community is lucky to have them as part of it, and it will not be the same...
