It's worth noting that we visited Pete's in the last few days before they shut for winter, but that's barely an excuse for the experience we had.
I've had good food at Pete's in the past, but it's been a while, so we stopped by when visiting the park in September. The first sever we encountered was pleasant and told us to sit where we liked.
Our main server seemed rushed, or inexperienced, or in a bad mood, or all of the above. She seemed annoyed when we asked what they had for kids drinks, then just kinda threw some napkins/utensils at the end of the table and left. Later she got our two orders mixed up when food came, and finally, when we asked for our extra food to be wrapped, she just threw a box at the end of the table and left it to us. Generally not impressed.
The food itself - a beef dip and a burger - was mediocre, at best. The beef for the dip was dry and rubbery, and both the au jus and the fries were extremely salty (and I like salt)! After all that, I found everything overpriced - even considering the usual cost of food at the lake. Our two sandwiches and 3 (non-alcoholic) beverages were over $55!!
All in all, not a great experience at Pete's and I can't...
Read morePete’s we cannot thank you enough for saving the day last minute for our Friday night welcome party for our wedding weekend! We were already impressed with Pete’s when they were going to deliver 40 pizzas to our cabins along with cutlery, plates, Parmesan cheese and chilli flakes, but when the forecast changed and an outdoor cabin party was no longer in the cards they accommodated our party of 100 people between their indoor restaurant and outdoor covered patio. They set up a little pizza bar for us inside and then walked around the patio serving pizzas to all of the tables! I felt like I was at a high end restaurant with the vibes of a fun patio! The outdoor patio had fire tables and the best heat lamps to keep everyone toasty in the cold! The service was exceptional and staff were very friendly. The owner and manager were so amazing to work with and the pizza and drinks were DELICIOUS!!! It could not have been a more wonderful night for having thrown something together so last minute. Go visit Pete’s when you are in...
Read moreRead moreUnimpressed with both the food and the experience. One of the local guides mentioned how decent the price was for the quality in a national park -- trust me, there are plenty of other restaurants in other national parks across Canada that could beat this place on a bad day. Example: Carlito's in Banff. $22 at most for a 12" pizza vs. $33 over here... in... Waskesiu?? But I can live with that. What I can't live with? The extreme drama that occurred during their show with Val Halla that ensued, where Val Halla for some reason announced that her show for the night would be free. I found out later that night that the owner was trying to get out of paying the musician for her dues. Excuse me? Are you dumb? Stop causing a scene and just pay them. Didn't like the music? Why didn't you screen them beforehand? People come to restaurants to have good eats and a good time, not watch a war between a manager and contracted worker th...
