We recently had Gourmet Girl cater a wedding. Unfortunately Nicole really dropped the ball with us and we were very disappointed. So many things went wrong. Communication was poor from the beginning (should have been a warning for us). Many emails went unanswered, and it was even difficult to pay our invoice - wrong phone number, wrong payment dates, wrong time, person not available etc. A note on the invoice noted that gratuity was not included, yet gratuity had been already added. We decided on a menu, then close to the event date, she suggested portioning was tight, and we should add more food, and have a staff member serve. We took her advice. However, the agreed upon staff member never showed up to serve. The most disappointing thing was that we decided to add 90 halloumi / Veg skewers as a protein option. She only provided 20, (and substituted the remainder as vegetables only) yet charged us for the 90 halloumi. She acknowledged her mistake but refused to refund us for the missing 70! She also suggested we add a pasta salad (which was barely touched) We checked the ingredient list before accepting her suggestion, and Nicole was provided with a full list of guest allergies. Carrot was not listed as an ingredient, to which the groom has a serious allergy. Fortunately he did not consume any that night. Nicole's response was dismissive as in her words, carrot "is not considered a common allergen". Nicole said that she would package up leftovers, but did not suggest I bring containers. She interrupted my dinner and made me very uncomfortable with her manner and tone of voice - I had to leave the table mid wedding dinner in order to deal with the issue. Nicole has been made aware of all of these issues and has offered various excuses and apologies, but is refusing to refund us for the missing buffet items. We are very...
Read moreRESPONSE TO THE OWNER: By completely ignoring the actual instances of bad service detailed in my review below (none of which have anything to do with race) and dismissing my feedback as "racist", the owner displays many attributes, none of which are flattering to the owner or the business, and more so, displays a shocking ignorance of what racism is - a dictionary reference is highly recommended. Changing my earlier rating of 5 to 1 as I certainly do not want to promote a business that responds to feedback by hurling back insults
Situated in the small village of Davis Bay, this place offers some of the best food I have had - certainly the best Cinnamon Bun (I can't even begin to describe how good it is!), chocolate croissants oozing with chocolate, incredible mochas and the best fried chicken. Make sure to try this place out on your Sunshine Coast adventures! In the 2 days we were in the area, we ate here thrice. Having said that, like another reviewer has mentioned, the Asian girl at the counter really pulls down the entire experience. One time she took our order and was completely uninterested in answering our questions and quite resistant to providing cream on the side for my Americano. My husband's cheese scone, which he requested be warmed up, was warmed in the microwave. Basically, such a turn off that we could have possibly never come back. Thankfully, we had a great experience with the other servers, who were friendly and enthusiastic - the same scone was sliced and nicely warmed in the oven so that it tasted splendid and everything else was served nicely. Seriously, the Asian girl is doing a great disservice to this...
Read moreWe hired Gourmet Girl for our wedding. While the food that was served was generally well received by our guests, our overall experience was filled with disappointment and unprofessionalism.
The appetizers, which were scheduled for a specific time, were ready over an hour late. More concerning was the issue with our main selectionsâwe paid for 90 halloumi skewers but only received 20, with the rest replaced by veggie skewers without any prior notice. This left many guests, including myself, without a promised protein option.
Nicole, the owner, interrupted our wedding dinner to apologize. While I appreciated the acknowledgment, discussing business during our wedding meal felt intrusive and inappropriate.
Additionally, we had provided a list of allergens in advance and selected our menu accordingly. Despite this, a pasta salad containing carrotsâa known severe allergenâwas served. This demonstrated a serious lapse in attention to dietary needs or concern for customers.
When we reached out to address these issues, including the paid-for food that was not delivered, Nicole refused to provide a refund or engage in a professional resolution.
I would strongly caution othersâespecially those with allergies or dietary restrictionsâagainst using Gourmet Girl. Our experience was stressful, disappointing, and not what anyone should have to deal with on their...
