Les Tire-Bouchons Resto Bar Grill — Restaurant in Sorel-Tracy

We arrived at 2:30, a family on vacation. Maybe three other parties present, not busy. We ordered a burger, pizza and a salad. Our waitress did not return after taking our order and giving one pour of water. After 30 minutes we asked another staff person about our order and we were told it would be another 10 minutes, and given a pitcher of water without ice and with a fly in it. Two cooks exited the kitchen, one ate a meal and chatted with the bartender. We waited another 30 minutes and were not served. Running low on time to get to a ticketed show (which we missed), we again asked about our meal and whether or not we should just leave. The original waitress (who never returned) had acted exasperated by my simple French (I’m a native English speaker from the States with conversational French skills from my Canadian family). Given the wait and indifference we were shown, I had to wonder if they were refusing to serve us as Americans. I had heard that this can happen in interior Quebec but never experienced it. The bartender then said in English, “Oh, you want to leave? We’ll cancel the order.” It was hard to explain to my 7 and 9 year old kids why after an hour they still didn’t have...

Honnêtement je ne sais pas où commencer. La cuisine était correcte, mais au prix que j’ai payé ce n’était pas acceptable de manger un filet mignon sans goût. Nous étions là bas pour un souper de travail et honnêtement nous avons reçu un service plus que médiocre. Nous nous sommes fait dire non pour de l’eau et avons dû demander à un autre serveur, le temps d’attente a atteint les 30 minutes pour les premières boissons et 2h30 pour la nourriture (qui n’est pas toute arrivée en même temps même après 2h30, certains n’ont pu mangé qu’à 21h45 alors que nous étions là à 18h et que les commandes ont passés vers 18h15 à 18h30). Évidement après tout ça, notre réflexe n’était pas de donner beaucoup de tip, donc nous avons donner un maigre 5% (en même temps vu le service c’était déjà généreux) qui s’élevait à plus de 200$ pour tout le monde et nous nous sommes fait accoster par des serveurs qui nous menaçant en nous disant qu’il fallait tipper plus parce qu’ils n’avaient pas de quoi vivre. Je me suis fait dire par le gars au bar qu’ils étaient à 9$/heure avant impôts. J’ai refusé de payer plus, mais certains employés ont décidés de les aider et ont donnés de 20% à 25% (certains de ceux-là avait 14-15 ans et étaient au salaire minimum). Je n’avais jamais vécu une telle chose et honnêtement c’est triste que les employés ne soient pas payés assez pour vivre au point qu’ils doivent PRESQUE MENACER les clients pour payer plus. Laissez moi vous dire que l’ambiance était pas mal gâché à ce moment là. J’espère que le gérant du « Les Tire-Bouchons » osera répondre car je serais curieux de la défense. Payer 9$/h dans le monde de 2023 c’est loin d’être acceptable, agissez, ANNULEZ votre réservation et ne vivez pas cela, c’est le temps que les gérants arrêtent D’EXPLOITER les gens avec des payent comme ça. Si la direction de « Les Tire-Bouchons » ne répondent pas à ce commentaire, ça l’ajoute à mon avis un autre élément dans le mauvais traitement...

We ended our spontaneous trip to Sorel-Tracy with dinner at Les Tire-Bouchons Resto, and it was a great choice! The location is lovely, with a terrace facing the park and a cozy interior. The restaurant wasn’t crowded, which made for a very relaxing atmosphere. The house white wine was a pleasant surprise, and the selection of wine and beer is more than enough.
