I've never left a negitive review for a restaurant. But we've never had a less favorable dining experience so I feel it's important to say something. There were three tables of people eating when we arrived. We are a family of seven people (mom, dad, five kids with the youngest having turned 3 this month) My parents along with my three siblings, two children and one spouse were also seated. We were given our drinks in a timely manner. The others in our group were served their food, they ate it and then chose to order dessert and they ate that. My parents got up to use the restroom as they do before getting on the road and no one at our table had been given any food yet. By this time we had been sitting patiently for an hour. We had my three year old watching videos on my husband's phone to help pass the time. My husband tried to get our servers attention to inquire if our food was coming but was ignored. We did manage to stop the other server who had served my parents. She checked and said our order had "slipped down" I could tell that my husband was at the end of his rope so I asked that our order be cancelled, we'd pay for our drinks and go as the other people in our party had eaten dessert and were ready to leave. Then our server pipes in "it's coming up next!" They wouldn't let us cancel. (Meanwhile while we waited four other tables were seated and served their food while we sat) Our order was rushed out. Two of my children got the grilled cheese, it was on the grill so briefly the bread was still white and the processed cheese slices bearly melted with the bread covered in a few scattered black bits (grill not scrapped before slapping the sandwichs on) my son's mac and cheese was reheated KD. The quality of these meals was very disappointing. My husband ordered seafood platter #2. Large pieces of haddock but what he was most looking forward to were the fried clams. Sadly he only got three fried clams with a mountain of fries. He didn't want to get upset so he went out to the car while the rest of us finished eating. I just got up to pay, didn't make a verbal complaint. My server said "Thanks for your patience" and had the other server take off the price of our drinks before I paid (I appreciated that since our bill was over a hundred dollars) I've never been to a sit down restaurant and not tipped. Typically I tip quite well but we received no service from our server, no check in after giving the drinks (I also had to request water when the food arrived since none was given) an hour wait for our food, rushed meal prep after our order was forgotten. It was beyond bad. No tip. And we...

I am so disappointed in your service yesterday Tuesday the 19th my wife is disabled and we drove from St. John down there as we have many times before this is the second time where we were standing at the door, waiting to be seated as the seats were full you had one server that did not have the decency to come to us and say it’s going to be a few minutes she had to go into the kitchen and tell the other server to let us know so we stood there and we waited to dismay what we ate. We were not happy. I had ordered a hot turkey. The gravy wasn’t hot. The fries were soggy. It’s like the gravy in clumps. it was not hot whatsoever. My wife ordered a seafood platter. You cut back on your portions drastically. and you charge the same amount of money if not more $61 for what we paid for including two cans of pop was definitely not worth it. The service was terrible. The food was terrible if I only had have known, I would not have drove down there, I would have went to a restaurant up here in St. John, the Irving truckstop or one of the restaurants in uptown St. John there was no thank you there was no have a good day after we paid for the meal very disappointing disappointing the word of mouth is the best advertisement going and I will be advertising disappointment on November 19 at approximately 1:15 PM in the afternoon when we arrived...

2 cause I never actually got around the lack of service to try their food other wise their service would get one star considering the place up the wouldn't even seat us and turned her head to my mother who was just just coming out of the bathroom so to this waitress she could have been a complete stranger. to say "someone is cranky today" like i was a child that cant speak or feel for myself at 38yo

what had actually happened was i told mom to go to the bathroom and i would get us seated as they were VERY BUSY. i didn't know if i was to wait to be seated or block one of the tables (i didn't want to block their tips) and i asked if they minded looking over a menu while i waited because they were busy. even the waitress i thought could just point me to a menu had her hands and arms full for this much longer conversation than it apparently HAD to be. explaining how I didn't want to just want to stand in the middle of the way like a passive aggressive A-hole. I in the moment decided that I no longer wanted to eat there because the waitress already had written me off as difficult. and I don't trust people in general with my food in the first place (not saying that THEY would mess with it. That's just me) I didn't believe I was going to get...

Life on Deer Island requires a little planning when heading to the mainland for supplies. Especially when we are down to one ferry! One of my routine stops in St. George is the Birch Grove. Besides the staff always offering a smile and the most amazing pies in the province, they make a mean turkey dinner with all of the fixings. I give them a call when I get to town and order a couple of dinners to take back with me. They are fast, the food is fresh and made just like you remember when you were a kid. It is also a lovely place to visit for a nice sit down dinner with friends. If you don’t have room for dessert, be sure to take a piece of pie to go!

What a nice little gem this place was. Just out for a drive out of town, doing some sight seeing in St. George. We decided to stop for a bite to eat and stumbled upon Birch Grove. They offer take out, dine-in and have a covered patio out back. I had a chowder and a one piece fish and chips which was absolutely delicious! I was pleasantly surprised by the prices and will definitely be going there again soon. I hear the desserts are to die for, but was too full to even attempt it. Make a pit-stop at Birch Grove, you won't be disappointed!

I had the Fish Platter and Strawberry Rhubarb pie. The best deep fried seafood I've had in years! Clams were astounding and I don't usually like them because they are not prepared right at most places. The pie was delicious and crust was nice and flaky without being dry. I will 100% recommend this restaurant, and thanks to the nice lady I met on the NRB trail that recommended this restaurant.
