Morgans Restaurant and Wine Bar — Restaurant in Surrey

We always go to Pat Quinn restaurant and love it. We moved in the south surrey area recently and wanted to try the Morgan restaurant. The energy was weird from the moment we walked in, I felt they do not like coloured people and to top it off if you have kids they do not appreciate it I felt.

We Called in to make a reservation for 3 pm and when we came in there was no one at the host reception area so we wandered off to find where to go. Then someone came and it felt like she wasn’t happy to sit us down and the server even before saying hello said I will need the table back for 5:30. We asked to sit outside his reply it’s cold outside it is not summer yet while everyone was sitting outside and the tables inside empty. Also the Ac was cranked inside and was way colder than outside if you sat in a sunny spot. I do not understand why we got this hostile treatment but I just did not feel welcome. I will take my appetite elsewhere, where they appreciate kids and people of colour.

Edit after response by Morgan restaurant: Thank you for taking time to reply, I appreciate it. Absolutely that could have been possible that the host was sitting someone down and that’s not an issue at all, but to make us feel like we were unwanted and just wandering off or make conversation by just saying how is your day going isn’t hard. When I could not find someone and it wasn’t long until I did find someone- I did say it is our first time here and she had the most whatever reaction and sat us down. The table time wasn’t communicated the time of the reservations, which is fine I am not saying I had any problems with you wanting us to leave in 2.5 hours I just had an issue with that being the first thing being communicated even before a hello . We apologize for our kids being kids and walking not running around our table to the window because we were basically told How cold it was outside, meanwhile there was no one inside( absolutely empty). The Ac was so cranked that it was unpleasant. The kids were not disturbing any guests but I will take that on us. We apologize. It was empty inside and thank you for being concerned about their safety. As we were leaving a group of family came in for dinner and the welcome they got is all I was after. They were not of Colour and they did not have kids. Making someone feel welcome isn’t hard it absolutely free. I was raving about this place to everyone and how excited I was to try it.

I love this place, not only is it great to go as a couple or out with my girlfriends, it was a really fun place to go with my kids. In fact my kids used to go from elementary school there for just french fries or whatever they could afford. They were always treated well by the staff.

If you're ever looking for a wonderful place to go for an afternoon brunch, it's so lovely to sit on their porch during the summer. Such beautiful views.

But winter dinners are all so nice as it's warm and cozy in there.

I've always enjoyed their menu although not majorly creative, the food choices are all very tasty. They also have a nice variety, so if there's someone who has food allergies, or is vegan etc, we do have items to satisfy everyone including picky kids.

Also this is a very nice place to have a larger event. They do have a special room for that type of thing as well if you want to be private.

Service was poor. Waited to order our meal and she was too busy..in her words..serving others, whom to note arrived 15 mins after us and had their meals ordered first. She walked by our table as we waited for her to take our order. Many people arrived after us and she had the whole restaurant inside and outside to take care of. Shame on the management staff for her being on her own. Note: no other servers hence delays. Tea was 3.25 for the bag and one water..no water refill as she was too busy to tend to our table...coffee for the others was hard to obtain for refills also 3.25 which i understand when asking for another cup or refill is fair. We were pleasant throughout and patiently waited. The service needs to pick up on the pleasantries, checking in on the table for coffee or extra drinks and ask how the about our meal. No offer of dessert menu. Just wanted us in and out. Food was well presented and...
