This is easily the WORST restaurant I have ever been to. If I could leave negative stars, I would.
My partner and I decided after a long drive to stop in Tatamagouche for lunch, and stumbled upon the Nook & Cranny. The restaurant was busy, but not overly busy and we were seated immediately. Our drinks were served in a timely fashion (coffee and juice) but the wait for our food was absolutely unacceptable. We waited almost 1 hour – and not once did our server come by to apologize for the wait. It was only about after 40 minutes of waiting she came by to let us know the food would be right out, again no apology. To me, “right out” would mean within the next five minutes, which ended up not being the case.
Once our food finally arrived, I couldn’t have been more disappointed. The skillet I ordered – I had to scrape the hashbrowns from the dish as they were stuck to the bottom. I communicated to the server how disappointed we were and asked for our bill as I had no interest in eating the meal. Both my partner and I had maybe two bites of food. After all of this, and telling the server I did not plan to eat the food, I was brought the bill when I asked. I asked if there was anything they could do to compensate the fact that we waited almost 1 hour only to have our meals arrive and taste horribly. I was met with “no there is nothing we can do, and there is no manager on site today.”
I am still extremely frustrated almost two weeks later that I wasted 40 dollars on a meal I did not even eat. DO NOT GO HERE unless you expect low quality food met with low quality service. I will be letting everyone I know how horrible this...

Starting at the beginning:
the restaurant advertises itself as a good place to have a microbrew. Unfortunately the menu does not list what microbrews they have. When I asked the waitress what they had on top she was greatly annoyed at me.
it took close to 30 minutes for our drinks to arrive.
we asked for a high chair for our daughter but it was not a commercial grade high chair and was covered in somewhat gross fabric.
when our drinks finally arrived, I did not get what I ordered. I received a lager instead of a local IPA.
our food took another 20 minutes before arriving.
I ordered the korean fried chicken sandwich - it was literally one of the most disgusting things I've ever eaten. The chicken seems like the chicken you would receive if you were the last person ever to visit the worst Chinese food restaurant in all of Cape Breton. But even worse than the chicken itself was the sauce. It seems like someone who had never visited a grocery store before had chosen the sauce based entirely on the fact that it was Korean and not based on its taste profile.
our server seemed to have many more tables than she could handle and seemed to be quite grumpy about it.
My wife ordered a wedge salad which she said was good. Our daughter had a grilled cheese which was also fine.
Tldr: unpleasant food, generally...

First off, let’s talk about their seafood chowder. Imagine a silky, buttery dream where seafood is the star. It’s like they took a dive into the ocean and came back with a spoonful of happiness. You might even catch yourself making embarrassing “mmmmm” noises as you savor every bite.
The French dip? Oh boy. It’s like a warm hug from a very tender, very flavorful beef. The au jus is so good it might just inspire you to pour it on everything you eat—seriously, don’t be surprised if you catch yourself dreaming about it.
And then there’s the fish and chips. They’re so crispy and delicious that you might just wonder why other places even bother making them. If you’re not careful, you might find yourself ordering a second serving before the first plate is even empty.
The service here is so friendly you’ll leave feeling like you’ve just made new friends—and no, they won’t judge you for how much of that chowder you slurped up. In short, The Nook and Crook is the undisputed champ of...
