My son and I used to go here often. We finally went back after a while, excited. There was always a lady who worked there that knew his name and he liked to say hi to her. She wasn't there that day.
We've come across great staff, until yeaterday. There was a lady there with mid-length brown hair who was very snippy with the young coworker she seemed to be training (who was doing awesome BTW!). I sure hope she isn't the new manager or something.
Later on, I went into the bathroom with my son to wash his hands, and I heard a toilet flush, and saw the brunette/snippy staff immediately leave the bathroom without even washing her hands. Just walked right out the door. We left the bathroom right after, only to see her handling customers food with bare hands.
A little while afterward, a rush of people came in, and she took a break on her phone, leaving the new trainee to handle the large influx of people on her own, but snippy with her when the young trainee asked a question and just went back to her phone. I thought the new blonde-haired trainee was great, she was kind, friendly, and wore gloves. I am still pretty grossed out that the brunette may have handled a lot of food yesterday, including my son's and mine. Even if she just went to wash her hands in the kitchen, she still touched the door handle customers do without caring.
The atmosphere would be great, but cleanliness is a huge issue. Aside from the above, the bathrooms seem to not be thoroughly cleaned often, and absolutely disgusting writing all over the bathroom stalls (at least in the women's bathroom) that I don't want my kid reading. Lots of stuff degrading to both men and women. It seems Remedy did try to scratch it off but it's just kept happening, they need to look into a whole bathroom upgrade. I get that this is a "Remedy" thing, but with the bathroom as dirty as it is already, it does not make for a pleasant visit.
In the restaurant seating area, the wall our table sat next to had drink splash marks all over it that hadn't been wiped off. Not sure how long they have been there. Judging on the condition of the bathrooms, the walls, the staff that didn't wash their hands, a reform is needed there.
Remedy cafe's food is always excellent and they have a lot of selection, even for those who need to follow specific or allergens. The cleanliness of the kitchen staff now worries me, but that can't be based on one staff member. I especially enjoy the Samosas and Chai combo, and my son loves the...
Read moreRemedy Café was ok. If you’re already in the area and you want to meet someone for coffee then Remedy isn’t a bad choice. Is it good enough to go out of your way or to take someone someplace special? No. Probably not.
My chai latte was better than average when compared to a place like Starbucks – and easy 4 stars. Is the best I’ve ever had? No, but it is definitely better than most. It seemed pretty clear to me that they truly care about the quality of their product.
The quality of service wasn’t quite as good and would rate as a two-star below average experience. It’s not that the staff was rude or lazy, they were civil, but indifferent, to the customer. Making you feel welcome, showing joy in service, and taking pride in their work were all noticeably missing. Who knows? Maybe they all just went through some terrible tragedy the day before. All I know was that you couldn’t buy a smile for a hundred dollars the day I was there.
The quality of the atmosphere was also a two-star experience – definitely below average. It was quite evident that this used to be a trendy little coffee shop, but the years have not been kind and the place has not been well-maintained. Little things like holes in the walls, chips in the paint, mis-matched light bulbs, mis-matched chairs, and worse than average level of cleanliness indicate that creating a good environment to share a cup with a friend has not been a high priority here.
Overall Remedy Café was an ok experience. Better than average drinks in a worse than average environment. Not bad, but not...
Read moreUsed to come here more often but things seem to be going downhill. Prices are going up but service is getting worse somehow. Paying $35 for a wrap and an order of butter chicken seems crazy considering it's cafe food. Curry Corner is about 7 minutes drive and has pretty good Indian food for less money.
I've also now been waiting for this order for 25 minutes so far. One of the staff has decided to hook their phone up to the speaker system, and after listening to what I imagine is a demo tape of terrible rap from a friend of hers, we are now listening to unfunny comedy with f-bombs to boot!
No communication from anyone on what's happening with my food. I expected to wait a bit since it's 10pm but when I ordered I did ask if it was too late to order hot food and was told it wouldn't be a problem.
Oh thank God, someone sensible is back in charge of the music! Save me from this place!
I feel like this Remedy location is a great example of why many jobs need managers. Lots of staff but no one seems to be doing much.
I would be a bit more understanding if this was the first time I have been let down here but this is now visit 3 with extremely slow service despite how many employees are "working".
WOW. So to end this saga I was finally able to get someones attention and ask about my order. Turns out it was sitting on the back counter but no one bothered to give it to me! Heading home now to enjoy some cold, overpriced food. Thanks again Remedy, this will be the last time I let your business disappoint me...
