Mama Alfa's Pizzeria — Restaurant in Thunder Bay

Mama Alfa's has one of my favourite pizzas and Caesar salad which is unfortunate as I will not be ordering from them going forward.

The sanitary conditions I witnessed when I went to pick up my order was really disgusting. Of the three people working, only one was wearing a mask which was slightly covering his mouth but not his nose as he was making pizzas without gloves.

The woman and young girl working were NOT wearing masks (they didn't even have any on them) as they moved around the kitchen and taking orders from people on the phone and in store. There is only a small amount of plexiglass separating the customer and the kitchen which means nothing without masks on.

So please keep that in mind if you are ordering from here in the future during the pandemic - it doesn't seem like the people working here care much about the sanitary and safe conditions...

For $50, you expect a decent pizza, but I will never order from here again. I did like it years ago, but they have changed. I don't know if Mama Alfa is still cooking here. She was pretty old when I worked here a couple of decades ago, so I don't think she's still the cook. There's way too much herb in it. No one here liked this at all. It tasted very herby with a lot of cilantro and oregano. The ground beef was little meatballs. The bacon was maybe a tablespoon of dark brown crumbs. You have to look really hard, but you will see the lunchmeat style "ham" that they use on top of the bologne type pepperoni that they use. The crust was overcooked to burnt in places. Ordered 6 extra large pizzas several weeks ago for a party....they we very good.....ordered 1 extra large deluxe last week...the crust was like a Mc'Cormick's soda cracker...extremely thin ...very dark brown...crunchy..overbaked crust....sauce was very spicy as well...phoned in order....asked if could substitute the pineapple with cheese,,,$23.99 quoted)..the employee said no charge ,,no problem substituting ...picked up this pizza..this employee said no subsitutions are allowed and charged $27.99.........too bad..I thought we had found a new great pizza place....will not go back...they are not consistent.....would like to support this local business...but like other restaurants in T BAy...no...
