My dad was in the RCAF throughout WWII and was posted to Nfld. He said he kept the family of a pub in Torbay in food during the war with provisions from the air base for the odd shot of whiskey. I took him there in 1966 as I was curling in a Cdn championship and he took a cab to Torbay and the lady behind the bar called him by name 25 years later. His name was Ted Stephenson. WAS MRS....
