Placed an order here at 11pm as told on the phone the order would be ready in 30 - 45 min. Got there close to 12. Upon arrival no staff was outside. Upon waiting finally one of the servers came out, asked me the order name. Then proceeded to the back. Waited for her and still the order wasn’t ready. I politely asked her how long and she said her friend is bringing it out. The order was brought out and I paid and left. We got home and the food was extremely cold, stale and not fresh at all. The chicken biryani tasted as if it was 1 week old and warmed up a dozen times. The chicken Karhai was so bad, I couldn’t believe we got it from KP. The chutney was so watery, clearly you can tell how old there food products are all the mint is all the way at the bottom. And on top of that we ordered regular coke, got home and yet another surprise we were given one of them Coke Zero. Everything went straight into the bin, thanks for wasting our hard earned money of $64.38 straight into the garbage. Myself and our family has always raved about KP and the delicious food and all the amazing experiences we’ve had at the Finch location. We figured it’s the same establishment, so we went ahead and placed the order. But not anymore this was the last time. So disappointed with how we were treated here. These types of businesses when they neglect customer service and the quality of the food they eventually lead to closures. Why are you open till 4AM? Cut down with the hours and serve quality food, instead of serving cold, stale and old food. With the one bite we ate, I’m praying we don’t get sick with food posing. Stay away from this location especially. I will be reaching out to public health to look into this location...
Read moreDisappointing Experience at Karahi Point, North York
I recently decided to try the lamb biryani from Karahi Point in North York, especially with the anticipation of Ramadan, expecting a delightful and fulfilling meal. Unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory, turning out to be extremely disappointing. At a steep price of $20 for a serving, my expectations were high, anticipating a generous portion of succulent lamb mixed with fragrant, flavorful rice.
However, what I received was a stark contrast to my expectations. The lamb biryani was predominantly bones, with little to no meat present, making it a rather unenjoyable meal. For a dish that prides itself on the quality and quantity of its meat, this was a significant letdown.
Furthermore, the quantity of rice provided barely sufficed for one person, which was surprising and unsatisfying, given the price point.Quality-wise, the biryani did not live up to the standards one would expect from a restaurant during the start of Ramadan, a time when food plays such a crucial role in gatherings and celebrations. The overall taste and presentation were underwhelming, leading to a poor takeout experience
Considering the cost, the quality, and the quantity of the food served, I find it hard to justify recommending Karahi Point's lamb biryani to others.
It's disheartening to leave a meal feeling disappointed, especially when looking forward to enjoying a special dish. My advice would be to look elsewhere if you're craving biryani in North York, as this experience was far from satisfactory and certainly not worth...
Read moreOne fine evening, a friend's sister was craving nihari and we landed at this Pakistani place. Of course, the sisters, being from Pakistan, wanted to show off their cuisine and woo our African friend who's addicted to Indian food. We kept it simple. Besides the nihari, which we came for, we ordered the full karahi chicken curry plus a few plain nans and garlic nans. The nihari, a stew preparation with lots of south asian spices and meat cooked for a long period of time, is among the better ones I have tasted. It was flavorful and packed a punch although nihari isn't exactly my thing.
What I was looking forward to was the karahi chicken, which Karahi Point is famous for. After all the restaurant takes its name from its star dish. It comes in a tawa pan topped with julienne ginger and some chillies. It was fantastic! While I planned to finish my dinner with 1 nan, I ended up having 2. I couldn't just stop myself. My friend who took a mutton biryani home was pleased with it although she indicated he had better ones in the past. The servers were quite attentive although the girl who billed us could not split the bill properly, resulting in us having to use our credit cards twice. Keeping the prices in mind, i would recommend a 4.5 star but Google doesnt allow you to and I will give this place a 5 star just for its excellent food.
I would definitely recommend the karahi chicken here although the prices can be expensive for a south asian restaurant. Definitely worth an occasional visit for that...
