REPOSTING AGAIN BECAUSE FIRST REVIEW WAS QUESTIONABLY REMOVED...... The fact that this place has 4 stars on Google baffles me! This has got to be the worst Jamaican food I have ever had! Being Jamaican and knowing how to cook you should know how Jamaican dishes are supposed to taste. Everything I ordered was stale, old looking, burnt and taste burnt. Yes I could have made my own food but there are times we prefer to order out and support these restaurants. Ordered through UberEats: cow foot soup, oxtail w/rice n peas, goat w/white rice & another goat w/provisions instead of rice paying an additional $2.00. I asked for gravy on the white rice and there was absolutely no gravy, rice was dry as ever, goat taste and smelt burnt plus there were pieces of something black, burnt and hard mixed into the meat. The other goat dinner was to have provisions, this was added to the instructions advising them to charge the additional fees, this wasn’t done, I doubt these ppl even read the special instructions! They have the options to sub for provisions on the app. Each dinner had a salad of shredded carrots & cabbage, the salad was dry and shrivelled almost like it was left out over night. This salad is not supposed to be like that. Only thing that taste somewhat decent was the oxtail, it could just use more pepper. The soup had no taste needed salt and more spice and the dumpling in the soup did not taste fresh, it’s as if everything was leftovers from the night before. Everything was horrible except for the half decent oxtail meat that had more of a sweet taste and no pepper, the goat dinners went straight into the garbage, wasn’t about to eat that especially with those burnt pieces of unknown objects mixed into the meat. I’ve ordered through UberEats from other places and made requests in the special instructions and request was met and if extra charges than the restaurant would apply so i know this can be done but my goodness this place has to be the worst of them all! Either your cook can’t cook or you all just don’t care! Like how is it your serving burnt meat! You guys should be embarrassed. I usually order from the location at Lawrence & Weston Rd which is waaay better. The prices are great but that should have been my first red flag cause other Jamaican places I’ve gotten food from is not charging 13$ for goat and oxtail each. This was ordered on July 2nd at around 4:35, at that time of day and on a Saturday your food shouldn’t be stale. I will no longer be supporting this business. Hopefully other ppl have had a better experience...
Read moreChef, I’ll remove this if the review is addressed—since when we met, you did ask to reach out to you directly if there was an issue; however, I lost the flyer given to me as well as your number and this was given a year ago. With that said, I visited the location at Weston Road and I was not impressed. This was the second time I’m having a meal from here. The first was over 3 years ago and I had the jerk pork, I was not impressed. Before I continue, let’s talk about when we met. A little over a year ago, you catered a funeral reception for my great aunt who had passed. I had the curry goat and I had the fried chicken and the food was absolutely DELICIOUS!! Flash forward to today, like I said above, I visited the Weston Road and Finch location and while I can say the fried chicken was just ok, nothing compared to what I had at the reception. I didn’t like the curry goat and it’s nothing compared to what I had at the reception. The curry didn’t look…..and perhaps I’m eating with my eyes….but I was thinking it didn’t look or taste like Betapac curry, but maybe I’m wrong, it could be because I was looking at the colour a lot. In addition, I tried the Weston Road and Lawrence location a few weeks ago and I remember telling my friend, it doesn’t taste as good as the one from the reception, but I can tell they are following the same procedure, but of course the chef didn’t do this one or over see this one—I did think it was much better than todays Weston Road and Lawrence. Also, when I say Chef, I...
Read moreI go here so often. Great place to eat as a lot of people already know. Watch out for the wait times. Order ahead and you should be fine for the most part.
My usually order for lunch would be a small Jerk Chicken, Rice and Peas with Coleslaw and extra gravy. A spicy Beef Patty. And a Pineapple Soda. So simple but they bang it out so beautifully. Jerk chicken that almost falls right off the bone, fluffy and flavourful rice and peas, with what I’m sure is homemade gravies that bring the taste up a notch. I have gotten this and other great menu items for myself and family members who loved it as well. My mother loves the “Fish Escovitch” and my wife really loves the “Rasta Pasta”. There is much more to try on this menu that will impress you so choose wisely or definitely go back and try it again and again.
I do really love this place and the only reason I gave a 4 star on my rating was because of two things. I always get extra gravy for my rice and peas and 2/10 of those times it will actually feel like extra gravy. But I don’t complain when it’s not cause it’s a little healthier I guess, right. Next was when I ordered a jerk chicken meal at around 10:30 and got something I wish I hadn’t paid for let’s just say and leave it at that. I guess it was still breakfast times for most people tho, but she should...
