Toronto Tikki Co.: A Haven for Vegetarians in the Heart of the City
If you’re a vegetarian living in or visiting Toronto, you know how difficult it can be to find a place that caters exclusively to plant-based diets, especially without compromising on flavor. Toronto Tikki Co. stands out as an absolute gem in this regard, offering not only an all-vegetarian menu but also a dining experience that leaves you genuinely satisfied in every way.
First and foremost, the food at Toronto Tikki Co. is exceptional. If you love Indian-inspired street food, you're in for a treat. The highlight of the menu for me was the Tikki—crispy, golden, and perfectly spiced with just the right amount of heat. It’s clear that the chefs here take great pride in their craft. The flavors are vibrant and full of character, making each bite a delightful experience. From the soft, melt-in-your-mouth interior to the crisp exterior, it’s hard not to fall in love with their take on this classic dish.
Aside from the Tikki, the restaurant offers a wide range of other vegetarian options that don’t feel like “substitutes” but rather whole, thoughtfully prepared dishes. Whether you're in the mood for a flavorful chaat, hearty wraps, or a fresh salad, there’s something for everyone. It's the kind of menu that makes vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike excited to explore.
But it’s not just the food that makes Toronto Tikki Co. stand out—it’s the people. The staff are incredibly warm, welcoming, and knowledgeable. From the moment you walk in, you feel like a valued guest rather than just another customer. They take the time to explain the menu, offer recommendations, and genuinely make sure you’re enjoying your meal. It's clear that customer service is a priority here, which elevates the entire dining experience.
The atmosphere of the restaurant is cozy and inviting, with a modern yet casual vibe that makes it perfect for everything from a casual lunch to a fun night out with friends. The space is well-kept and has a relaxed ambiance, making it a place you’d want to return to time and time again.
In a city as diverse as Toronto, where vegetarians can sometimes feel like an afterthought on many restaurant menus, Toronto Tikki Co. is a refreshing reminder that vegetarian food can be exciting, flavorful, and filling. If you’re looking for a place that values both the taste and experience of eating plant-based food, this spot should definitely be on your radar.
Highly recommended for anyone—vegetarian or not—looking for great food and a genuinely warm experience. Toronto Tikki Co. is...
Read moreHi everyone. I am from Delhi. Me and my family went over here to try flavours of Delhi but trust me anything you order is not even close to what is made in india. We ordered their special Palak chaat, dhoodh vali bread and fully loaded tikki. We just ate one bite and kept the food as it is. First. The oil taste was so bad, the palak chaat had too much salt in it, third tikki taste was very bad flavour and dhoodh vali bread was tasteless. Even not us, there was one more family who did not ate the food as well. Please don’t go and waste your money. You will run your flavours of mouth…
Below is the reply to your reply:-
Firstly, regarding the ghee—please be honest. Were we the only ones who stepped out after taking a bite, or were there others that day who also left for the same reason?
Secondly, I tried the doodh wali bread, and to be completely transparent—it was extremely disappointing. Even a simple slice of bread at home with malai and sugar would taste far better than what was served.
Third, just because your menu items are priced under $10 doesn’t mean the quality should be compromised. $10 is still hard-earned money, and people expect value for what they spend. It’s not just about the price; it’s about the experience. No one wants to walk out of a place hungry and disappointed after spending even $25 or $30.
Also, when I posted my honest review, I was accused of making false claims. If that’s the case, what about the overly positive reviews—are you willing to clarify whether those were written by actual customers and not friends or family?
Lastly, for anyone who still doubts my experience, I encourage you to go and try it for yourself. You’ll see what’s real. In fact, while we were there, an elderly couple sitting next to us also mentioned the food was too oily. They voiced their concerns and then left shortly after—so clearly, we were not...
Read moreI'm a chaat girly. The more sauces the better. I tried their famous Palak Patta Chaat. It was crispy and flavorful with The perfect amount of Dahi and chutney.
I didn't take a good photo of the Tikki Chaat as I dove right in. The Aloo was seasoned well and fried to create a crispy coating. It was soft and tender on the inside. Smothered in sauces; just the way I like it .
The Papdi Chaat was a tasty classic served with all the best toppings.
I also tried their GolGappas. Although I'm one who calls them Pani Puri haha. They have three different types of Puri. I didn't even realize there was more than one. I tried all the different Pani and loved each one.
The Jain Shikanji was delicious 🤤. I personally love masala drinks.
Finished the meal off with some chai .
The owner was working and was an absolute sweetheart. He told me about the history of Tikki and Chaat. This restaurant is bright and spacious. Next time I want to try their Chole Bhature (I'm a Bhature lover) and the...
