DON'T misunderstand that 5 star rating. MY Rowntree Park was from 33 YEARS ago. It was a place where we would all gather, in the big (gravel) parking lot in our muscle cars, hang out & listen to music. It turns my stomach & breaks my heart to see what today's youth has turned it into. My husband & I wanted to take a trip down memory lane a few years back & tried to make our way to the park, only to find it CLOSED at 9pm. Back around 1978ish, none of us even WENT to the park until 9pm, & we wound our way through the back streets to get there because Finch never went through from Kipling at that time, it was just a big field between the back of the Mt Olive townhouses & the Albion Mall. The difference being, we never went to trash anything, turn tricks or shoot up, but simply to hang out with friends & have a good time. I guess it's true that you can't ever go back. Seeing those gates locked up tight brings tears to my eyes & crushes a lot of great memories, making my present day...

All in all an amazing park with great places to sit and enjoy a...
Read moreNice park for walking your dog, or going for a bike ride. The park is quite large, and sits on a bike trail that stretches down along Humber river. You're never far enough away from the city to entirely forget it's existence, but there really are very few places like that in the city. Only issue is that group parties often leave a huge mess of paper plates and bottles. Thankfully the parks and rec staff do a great job keeping the place tidy. If you live nearby, you should definately take advantage of the proximity and visit this park, but I wouldn't travel half way across the city...
