First off staff here have always been accommodating and friendly. You can order food from the pub menu or the restaurant located directly next door. Some things to be aware of. It can get busy when they’re are tournaments in George Preston arena. Quite often you’ll have individual customers sitting at a table designed for six customers so not great if you’re showing up with a larger group for dinner. Some of the seating has to conform to the layout so some areas you feel like your sitting in the hallway or a revamped recreation centre. There are no exterior windows…not a big deal in the winter but in the summer it has the bunker affect. The food is well pub like the restaurant food on the other is acceptable but a bit pricey for the quality. Would I order the overtop expensive Tomahawk steak? Probably not, it feels risky for the cost/value. I have ordered $45-$50 steaks? Yes and honestly they were okay but just okay a little disappointing if your spouse can make a better steak at home for considerably less. Yes, I have eaten at the Lodge and this a review of the Horse and Ryder but when you can order from the same menus regardless of which location you dine in it’s hard not to merge reviews. By the way my favourite pub menu item is the fish and chips. If you live in Brookswood and you don’t want to drive to WG to The Keg for steak it’s worth checking this place out just ask questions and be fussy if you order a steak and it’s not acceptable for what you paid for. If your looking to have wings and beer and possibly watch the real “Men With Brooms” it’s not a bad local spot.

When I’m in the Brookswood area this is my go to. They treat you extremely well there and if you’re a regular they go above and beyond. Food wise the soup and sandwich is a simple “wow.” If you read my other reviews you will see I am not biased. They are really that good. I always double meat my sandwiches because honestly that’s my favorite part. The soup is exceptional. I prefer the chicken chowder and there have been a few others that have been great. On occasion I’ll wait until the soup of the day changes; they’re always good but I have preferences. In the end you can’t go wrong with a home made restaurant quality soup.

Second time here at the “new” location at George Preston. Considering it was Monday at 2:30 the pub had a few tables taken up. Our server Natasha was a total professional and nailed a Burnt Martini for my hubby. Shared steak bites that were tasty and the price was fair. Calamari was very nice and not greasy. FYI… Hockey and CFL is on the multiple screens during the seasons so they have no problem catering to local favourites. Only complaint is that we would have like to see what is offered for brunch but no menu available yet. Indoor and outdoor dining available. Looking forward to brunch.

Came here with my wife and friend just after 4pm saturday march 2nd to play some darts and have a bite. This is the first time being back since opening day. Food tasted great but my wife and her friend got fish and chips. The fish portions were terribly small. Any other pub or restaurant we've been to has double the size of fish. And we weren't impressed with the fact that there were about 5, 7 yr old kids running around being noisy banging on the hockey game while we're trying to play darts worrying that kids will run through. I will give it another try but if there's kids running around being noisy again.I probly wont come back. I live up the street and was thinking of starting...
