I really enjoy having a McDonald's in the community because sometimes you just want McDonald's. Having said that, I find it hard to review a chain restaurant, so all I can do is compare it to other McDonald's I have visited. The Campbellford McDonald's does not carry a full menu, so don't expect to see everything that you may expect at others. I'm not sure why this is, but I am sure there is a good reason.
I find that service can be slow when it is busy, but I expect this, especially when the parking lot is near capacity. I generally tend to avoid it when it's busy. It also takes extra time when the place is dead because they generally have to cook fresh fries.
In general, I find the employees very pleasant. I take into consideration that this may be someone's first job, so they could just be shy. Having said that, I have never encountered someone who was downright rude. I find friendliness begets friendliness. If it ever became an issue, I simply wouldn't go.
The food can be hit or miss, sometimes, but I remind myself it is McDonald's. Just make sure to check your bag when you leave. I find it's helpful if you reiterate condiments and straws at the drive thru window. They can easily be overlooked, especially when busy. Sometimes the food looks thrown together without care, but it has never been to the point where it bothered me. Sometimes the chicken is a bit overdone. I don't know why this happens, but again it's never been to the point where it really bothered me. I recommend maybe avoiding chicken if the place is dead because it may hang around longer, therefore being overly done or dry. I'm not sure though.
I do recommend that people download the app. You can often find deals and even place and pay for your order beforehand. It makes drive thru some much easier. One thing I would like to see is the hours posted somewhere it is very visible. I'm still not sure this is a 24 hour location, so don't head out here if you have the midnight munchies. You may be...
Read moreThis is 100% the worst McDonald’s. My boyfriend and I only come to this location because everything else in town closes pretty early, and almost every time we question why we go back. Seriously, do managers even exist here? If they even have the items you want, you’re likely being pulled into a spot from the drive thru and waiting at least 10 mins. I once watched the milkshake I ordered sit on the counter for 15 mins before I had to ask for it, which at that point it was pretty much melted. The longest we’ve ever waited was 45mins for a pre-paid online order, and when we got to the store the employee didn’t even know how to process it - I had to tell her how. (I’ve never worked for McDonald’s). Tonight, we went through the drive thru, got to the window and paid, then waited 5mins before the girl handed us our food and said the cheese curds in our poutines were still partially frozen. Again, we had paid already, (we would have just gotten fries if we’d known before) so we took our food and left. I placed it in my lap, unfortunately not double checking the bag before driving off. When we got home, I realized that the bag had torn open on the side, literally soaked by leaking gravy from the poutine. (Photos below) The gravy had spilled all down front of me, on our other food, and the poutine itself had been placed sideways in the bag, on top of my snack wrap?? Idk, I genuinely wonder if these employees have had training, or if they’re just simply morons. Please do something to improve,...
Read moreThe food is what to expect from any McDonalds around the world, cheap and junk, coffee is great.
So why one star?
I’ve been here a few times and I’ve yet to be greeted with a smile- everyone seems not to be happy!
I have asked why I can’t connect to the internet there, both times I get the same answer with a shrug of shoulders “Oh it’s not working’ and the just look at me!
Now I’m not bad in tech so I can see the wifi is on but it’s not going through to the internet, I suggest they reboot the internet and off the young ladies goes.
I’m sat in the restaurant and can hear the conversation in the back, just because you can’t see the customer they can hear every word.
She says “The fella out here can’t get the internet” I can hear the shrugs and so what attitude from the seat. !! This is amplified as I’m waiting for work on my car to be finished and after an hour she hasn’t come back, internet hasn’t changed - they have not reset it as I was watching for that - so they really don’t care about the customer!!
Is it busy - No, three blokes in the restaurant and a steady drive through.
It’s a shame as I’ve mentioned this to close friend who says the owner struggles to get staff and the ‘reputation’ is really poor!!
Get things sorted and start caring!! I’ll wait in Tim Hortons...
