Stopped here on a beautiful day and asked if my family and I could eat outside at a picnic table. Was told by the waitress that it would be ok and someone would be out to take our order shortly. Waited a long time but nobody came. Went inside and was told to order at the till. Stood in line for ten minutes and when I was next up, the staff member completely and totally ignored and skipped past me...and took payment from the person after me for some reason. I found this to be very odd but let it go. After she was finished helping the person after me, she took my order. I told her that we were sitting outside and asked if someone would be out to bring cutlery and water, etc. She gave me a jug of water and four glasses and asked that I come back in 15 minutes to get the order. A bit confused, I agreed and set a timer. Went in at 15 minutes and was told food was just being put into platters...I asked about what she meant by platters and was told it was for our take-out. I said "but we want to eat from plates" and was told that people sitting outside have to do so as take out. I said "we were told it was ok to eat outside and we were even given water and glasses to use". She asked her supervisor and I was told "no, if we let you then we have to let everyone". I said "we were told from the start that we could eat outside and would be happy enough to bring the plates, etc back inside afterwards". Still a firm "No". I asked could we eat inside and was oven a cold "OK". We sat down and waited 15 minutes for the food to come. We received 2 small fish and chips, a Greek salad (same price as fish and chips and very small!) and a burger with chips. Food was ok (chips a bit soggy) but the burger was missing lettuce and tomato. They brought that out (and apologized) when I asked about it. In all, the meal cost $64 - a bit much for lunch for 2 kids and 2 adults, I thought. Maybe they were having an off day...I can say for certain I won't be...

Don’t eat here. You will be made to pay for food you sent back because you couldn’t even eat it due to the quality being so low.

Took 3 bites of cod au gratin, water/oil filled the negative space of the dish, so much so that it was level with the remaining cod gratin in the dish. It literally ran straight through my fork. I’ve had plenty cod au gratin and never had this happen. Usual cod au gratins have a thick creamy flavourful sauce. This one had no sauce. Tasted like boiled fish in water with cheese on top. I did finish the side caesar salad while I waited for the waitress to come back. Waitress came over, I asked if it was normal for it to have so much water. She said she was sorry, it’s not supposed to be like that, and will ask the kitchen. Came back again and said it’s watery because it’s fresh fish. Offered me a piece of fish but I declined as my partner was already done their meal. (I will add this waitress was very kind and pleasant)

Imagine my surprise when I got the bill and the dish was still 100% charged. We said we were expecting it to not be charged as it was not edible, and it was sent back. I was willing to pay for the salad that I did eat, of course. The ?supervisor then came over and asked what was wrong. I explained again. She said it’s because it’s fresh fish so it’s normal for it to be watery. I wasn’t debating if it was fresh or not….I said it was watery and not how it’s supposed to be. For a $25 meal it did not meet that standard. The ?supervisor was very defensive over the meal and made me feel like I was dumb for not knowing fresh fish is watery? Did not appreciate this.

She said best she could do was take 20% off the item.

So, I ended up paying close to $30 for a side ceasar salad as I felt baked into a corner. Horrible customer service. Will never...

Unfortunately I am just visiting for my first time to Newfoundland because I could uses little restaurant like this back home, like every place I have been to so far here the service was amazing and very friendly and welcoming. The food was great, I am sure we will be back before we fly home. Thanks for a great restaurant experience. Update** we decided to swing by here with out the kids for a drink on the patio, when we got here we were greeted by a young lady that quickly seated us and took our order we ordered a couple Ceasars and decided to have an appy, we ordered the treasure chest $34 dollar appy. About 20 minutes went by and nothing not even our drinks, wait another 10 and I say to my partner I am.going to see what is going on with our drinks, just as I get up another server comes out with our drinks puts them down on the table and says your food is ready too I will be right back with it. Now I am already annoyed that we had to wait as long as we did for our drinks but then our food comes out and overcooked on most of the food the the scallops, shrimp and calamari especially was over cooked almost burnt. I was very much not impressed not sure how a place can go from 5 star food and service to a 2 star in a week but we will not return here after tonight. Was literally the worst 59...

Our service was good - our server was well intentioned and kind. She did not tell us anything about the specials, but that was alright. The location of the restaurant is lovely, right on the water. It has been raining when we went so we sat inside, though would love to have been able to take advantage of the outdoor views. Our food however, was pretty bad. Both my husband and I felt like our food was hard to eat. Neither of us finished. Even out baked potatoes were not fully cooked through - which is a pretty simple cooking task. I have the Cod au Gratin and he had the Scallops. Maybe we just caught them on a bad day? Or order some of their less popular dishes? Seems like those who ordered the fish and chips had much more positive experiences. There weren’t many places in Trinity where we could walk in without a reservation, so their availability is definitely a perk. If we were in the area and needed to eat here again, we would definitely try something different on the menu. Overall, kind and well meaning staff, just an underwhelming food experience.

I would NOT recommend this place at all...even if extremely hungry you are better going without. I went with 2 friends. A friend ordered the calamari, which were clearly store bought and came with no sides or even a garnish (no salad, no fries, not even a sprig of parsley) just calamari in a bowl. Myself and another friend ordered the 'special'...mussels. It became abundantly clear they were on special because they were old, they were extremely dry, no sauce, smelt terrible and were not cleaned properly. We asked for melted butter in an attempt to improve them (as we are not people to send food back) and coated with salt and pepper but it did little to improve the food. Jessie our hostess was extremely friendly and did her best to assist us but there was little she could do to improve this. Literally one of the worst meals we've eaten in our lives.
