When staying in the area, we wanted to check out the local restaurants. The idea of a brewery was intriguing so we decided to stop there for an early dinner. The smell of a bakery mixed with a burger place was odd but kudos for having a multi purpose business.
We ordered burgers and salads and sat inside to wait for our food and sip our drinks. They did not have any non alcoholic options other than the usual fountain type drinks. When our food came out, it looked very good. Unfortunately after a few bites, it was discovered that the burgers were raw inside. Very pink. We waited for someone to come check in on us to see how everything was tasting which never happened. Our drinks were also left empty with no refills offered.
We eventually took our plates up to the counter and complained. We were met with a half apology while the waitress went to talk to the back. Instead of reducing the cost of our meal, they offered us two cinnamon buns.
We were in no mood to continue staying at this establishment, so we accepted the cinnamon buns. While this was occuring, the staff member working at the bakery came running and accused us of leaving without paying. While we were standing at the cash register.
It was a disappointing experience. There were 3 other people in the restaurant while we were there. So not busy enough for a lack of customer service. The cinnamon buns were better than the burgers and were baked correctly. We...

We came to the brewpub for a craft beer and a meal during the second week of September, and they were already out of all but one of their own beers. They were also out of ALL canned craft beers. We didn't come to a brewery for a Bud Light! Why not keep a few cans of local craft beer in the fridge?!
The food menu was also disappointing. The printed menu does not match the online menu (several items were still listed as "coming soon" - at the end of the season?, and the more interesting items that had caught our eye were not there at all).
The website and facebook page need work. Some menu links don't work, menu items were not accurate, hours were not updated, the seasonal closing was not mentioned, and there is no mention of beer on the website (strange for a brewery).
Other restaurants in the area were absolutely packed, and offered full menus and craft beer. We went to...
Read moreBakeries in tourist spots are generally pretty hit-and-miss. They can be great, like The Whitehouse in Clear Lake, MB, or be like this one. The cinnamon buns were a huge disappointment as was the beer. The buns were dry and tasteless. I am always excited to try local beers but the pale ale from here needs a lot of help. Perhaps brewing is new and a work in progress. The pale ale had several off-flavours. The two most prevalent were an unpleasant cidery note at the first sip that points to acetaldehyde and then turns to a decidedly catty note that I think is THP. I poured out the rest of the beer, something...
