We ordered the seafood chowder and seafood linguine. The linguine was really enjoyable — the seafood was fresh and of high quality, and the overall flavor was spot on. Unfortunately, the seafood chowder didn’t quite live up to expectations, especially given the price. It was packed with potatoes and had only a few tiny pieces of seafood. ( Quite literally tiny baby seafood not small pieces chopped up from a full grown seafood) While the taste was decent (a little on the salty side), it just didn’t feel worth the price. One major issue we had was with the bread that came with both dishes. The focaccia and bread were supposed to be charred, not burnt. What we received had clearly been over-grilled — so much so that the burnt side was placed facing down, likely intentionally. This was disappointing, especially considering bread is inexpensive and could have been quickly re-toasted. At this level, better quality control is expected from the kitchen. We appreciate the ambiance — sitting by the window was lovely, though the window itself could use a refresh. It’s quite old, a bit blurry, and the mosquito net obstructs the otherwise beautiful view. On a positive note, our waitress was fantastic. She was friendly, attentive, and apologetic when we mentioned the burnt bread. She even offered a small discount on the bill, which was appreciated. While they didn’t remake the bread, we hope the chef was informed so future guests don’t have the same experience.

My girlfriend had the Lobster poutine while I had the fish and chips. The French fries are the batter coated crispy type, and while she wasn’t a fan of the cheese they used on the poutine, she enjoyed the chunks of claw and tail meat that made up the dish. The fish and chips I ordered was terribly over cooked, a deep dark brown batter that was overly crisp, and by the time I’d powered through the generous portion of fish, I began to break off the batter first so I could enjoy the fish itself. I’d love to see what that dish had looked like provided the cook was paying more attention to the what was happening in the deep frier. I did enjoy the coleslaw, but thought the tartar sauce a tad plain. It would have benefited from some fresh dill. Caroline thought the same of it, and a table mate gave me hers as well. Served with a very generous helping of the fries. The service was good and for a large party of nine, they took good care of us.

Came here for their seafood chowder, oysters and what they claim is wood-fired pizza. Starting off with the good, server was super friendly and oysters fresh … Seafood chowder was more of a potato chowder. Chowder had no haddock, no clams, 2 tiny mussels, and 2 scallops the nice of a dime. Given we’re in PEI, how can this be? And we travelled here from Ontario. Then for an Italian restaurant, pizza wasn’t even fresh pizza dough, it was premade flatbread. Flipped it around and saw the holes signature to a flatbread … which was dry, soggy, not airy like a traditional yeast pizza dough should be. Tasted like frozen pizza. They should not call this oven-fired pizza. Sorry. Misleading. Won’t be back and won’t recommend.

Food was just OK. Wife had the Haddock A La Casa and I had pan fried haddock. Due to the inconsistency in the dishes I rate it at 3 stars. Haddock A La Casa was presented well, tasted fresh and was easily rated a 4.5 stars compared to the pan fried Haddock I had that tasted like frozen chewy fillets and very had fishy taste rating it around a 1.5 stars. Also chose a side order of salad because I don’t enjoy frozen fries when I’m go out to a restaurant that offers fish and chips. As for the waiter, we felt rushed. Did not like how fast she came with the bill, maybe we wanted to finish our drinks, have another drink, have an espresso, enjoy the beautiful view from the patio. On top of that when she acknowledged that a fly landed in my wife’s glass wine, doing the backstroke, nothing was done to compensate for that so we had to leave a half glass of wine at the table as we were rushed out of there. I will not be back, seems like a tourist trap with unskilled servers. I will stick to better restaurants in Charlottetown who use homemade, fresh ingredients, and are...
