The Woodfired Cafe — Restaurant in Westport

Happened to be travelling through Westport and needed a break and lunch and dropped into this place after some quick online research. Not only was I pleasantly surprised to find a place that smoked their own meats for sandwiches, they also had coffee, drip, espresso and cold brew! Ordered the Holy Trinity wrap which came with a side potato salad and hot coffee. It’s rare to find a sandwich with meat that isn’t deli/nitrite meat.

My lunch was delicious and filling and had so much meat, I shared some with my best friend (my dog). Potato salad was very tasty and creamy but not overladen with mayo. And the coffee was bold and excellent, akin to a micro roaster coffee shop.

The Woodfired Cafe is the best new spot in Westport. I stopped in to grab a coffee and decided to give their Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwich a shot and was totally blown away. I ended up going back the next day to get the pulled pork and brisket sandwiches too. All three were excellent.

I cannot recommend this cafe enough.

On one of my visits, I ended up dropping my wallet with my enhanced license that I needed to get back over the border to the US. The staff went out of their way to make sure I got it back. They posted online looking for me, where a local friend saw the post and called asking if I’d lost my wallet. Truly incredible folks with great food.

If you go to Westport for a day trip, make this a main stop. Enjoy a refreshing Strawberry Sensation smoothie or warming Fog Ducking Latte while you wait for either the grilled BBQ chicken or BLT sandwich. I highly recommend the absolutely amazing Pulled pork sandwich. The buttery crunch of freshly baked rye or sourdough bread gives way to mouth-watering perfectly smoked and sweet pulled pork.
