Avril's Baked Joy — Restaurant in Winnipeg

Visited April's Baked Joy yesterday on their opening day. My family tried a variety of desserts and the original milk tea. The strawberry cake was one of the best cakes I've ever tried and I will be definitely coming back to buy some for my upcoming birthday. Very moist, with balanced amounts of sweetness and flavor. The red velvet cake was also very nicely made. We also tried a Custard bun and it was 10/10 no complaints. The bun was soft and the filling with slivered almonds were delicious. Finally we had the milk tea! The portion was large and so we were able to share it amongst ourselves. Sweet with really great flavor. The bubbles are a bit of a different texture than I've encountered before, but that really didn't hinder the experience.

The staff were all very pleasant and accommodating. Service was also done in great timing. Definitely recommend this bakery to treat yourself to a modern Vietnamese baking experience. Reasonable pricing for what they items are, too. Looking forward to trying some of the savory items next.

ALSO, I like the packaging the cakes come in. Very nice for presentation!

Wishing Avril's Baked Joy lots of...

I was a bit disappointed with the service here… I preordered their stuffed cookies for Vday over Instagram. The person who responded assured me they would be ready the day I told them I was coming and even confirmed the time. The day I went to pick them up they had no idea of my order. So I regave them my order and put them in a box, I advised I wanted them individually wrapped to keep them fresher longer and the girl told me they would be fine like this. So I paid and left. When I got home the two red velvet cookies were squished because they were crammed into the box. For the cookies themselves…I have tried a couple of them so far and they taste just ok, but some have no actual stuffing in the middle, it’s jus one big cookie and they kind of just taste all the same. The almond one especially was a big disappointment…The videos this bakery posts show it pouring out filling in the middle…there was nothing in the middle when I broke in...

Hi. I ordered once from your Outlet location and when I ordered, I guess one of your own employee was working so there was no issue.

However the second time, no employee of your own. The only person would assist is the person also doing the bubble teas. Based on my observation not just based on my experience, but also based on other customers, when bubble tea is busy, they will not help you buy anything from your store. I wanted to get some desserts with my bubble tea. The guy kept saying he will assist me with your baked products soon as bubble tea isnt busy. I waited there for 10 mins and nothing.

So Im just writing to let you know that you are not making any sales if you dont put your own people in there. Bubble tea people dont care with your business.

I had your red velvet and it was so good. I am a baker too and yours is pretty good. Ube was okay. I really wanted to try your cookies. Maybe next time when I see someone working...
