I had high hopes for this place, but unfortunately, I didn’t even get to try the food because of how I was treated. As a person of colour, I found the experience deeply disappointing and upsetting.
When I arrived, I was met by a middle-aged female server whose tone and attitude toward me and my group were noticeably cold and dismissive. What struck me most was how her behaviour sharply contrasted with how she warmly interacted with other (Caucasian) customers — offering them smiles, friendly small talk, and attentive service. In contrast, we received curt responses, no eye contact, and an overall energy that made it very clear we weren’t welcome.
What made it even more uncomfortable was seeing this same pattern happen again: three other people of colour came in during the short time I was there, and after receiving the same kind of cold, dismissive treatment, they ended up leaving without even finishing their coffees. That said a lot — and confirmed that this wasn’t just in my head.
It was disheartening to experience such a clear difference in treatment based solely on race. Dining out should never feel like stepping into a space where you’re judged or made to feel lesser for simply existing. Because of her unwelcoming and prejudiced attitude, I chose not to eat here and took my business elsewhere.
This kind of behaviour has no place in hospitality. I truly hope the management addresses it and works toward creating an environment that’s inclusive, respectful, and welcoming to everyone because right...
Read moreService seemed a bit frantic - Saturdays are clearly busy for them. Would have expected another member of staff to be present but perhaps someone called in sick. I don't go enough to know if that is their normal.
Typical diner fare - refreshingly few pretensions about that. Only downside is the lack of small meals/lighter options for adults.
It would be nice if something a bit fresher, healthier, or more portion conscious would be made available for adults, eg. fruit, yogurt... or even oatmeal - a simply stored/prepped item with low overheads.
Generally, it's a good spot to spend some time over a cup of diner coffee with a friend. If you have kids, it will be fantastic - pancakes and bacon and juice with airplanes(!). Nice ambience indoors, great location near the tarmac, and the staff are pleasant when they are available. Just don't expect much...
Read moreI always give a place 3 chances, and this last time was awful. It felt like I was an inconvenience for wanting to sit out on the patio. It’s lovely outside, and I didn’t mind that the chairs or table were slightly damp, no problem. I ordered my breakfast, which always good.. However, the staff never came back. I never got a refill of my coffee after being there for an hour. Never asked if I needed anything else. Never came to me with the bill. I made sure my spot was cleaned. Then went inside to the till, where my waitress suddenly appeared and cashed me out right away. Didn’t ask how my meal was or anything. Gave me my total, I paid and left.
Absolutely disappointing. Especially since everyone I know loves this place. I don’t think I’ll be returning...
