The Village Bakery is a delightful oasis of gastronomic pleasure located in the heart of Haines Junction, Yukon. Serving locals and tourists alike for over 33 years, and currently under new ownership, this charming establishment is a testament to the richness of small-town flavors, effortlessly pairing the warmth of a local bakery with the sophistication of a gourmet deli.

Upon entering, the aroma of fresh coffee, an essential start to any morning, greets you, promising a delicious caffeine kick. Their coffee, robust and full-bodied, is the perfect companion to their wide array of baked goods. The cookies are a must-try - fresh out of the oven, they are delightfully crispy on the outside and melt-in-your-mouth tender on the inside.

The bakery's commitment to freshness and quality is evident in every item on their menu. Their sausage rolls are generously filled, providing a hearty and fulfilling meal that might, as my friends humorously pointed out, have 'too much' sausage – a delightful problem to have, indeed! The ingredients they use are top-notch, and it's clear they take pride in preparing all their foods from scratch daily.

The Village Bakery also has some nice spots to sit and eat outside.

Overall, the Village Bakery creates a truly special experience that leaves you longing for more. With its mouthwatering selection of bread, treats, and meal options, it's a place where the joy of eating is rediscovered in every visit. Come for the food, stay for the warmth and charm, and leave with memories of one of...

Low key efficient friendly. I didn’t get there in time for a reservation for the salmon bake so they put me in a waitlist but no one cancelled. but we had a terrific lasagna and chicken pot pie (were out of cottage pie). And live Celtic music but they stopped after salmon was served and we were finished by then. Advice is to get stuff early as it sells out. Good selection of beer and a sampling of wine. Eating inside or out. Family and dog friendly. Inside It’s a little confusing because they have 3 counters - kitchen food hot, bakery case and coffee so look for the signs. On salmon bake night they close the kitchen to serve the salmon then reopen after but they have a refrigerated case with deli type meals. They are really accommodating and think of things for their customers convenience. Went back and had cinnamon roll and sticky bun next morning and they were fantastic. They were cold but we took them home and warmed them up. They may have a microwave there if you want to eat there. Definitely...

A little pricey, but watcha gonna do? My photo caption reads "when you give yourself a first degree burn holding all the warmed goodies you got from the Bakery and didn't bring a bag".

Edit: Made it down the road a ways but couldn't wait any longer to eat the breakfast burrito. What a surprise. It was just labeled "bacon" so I assumed it was a traditional bacon, egg, cheese, potato. This is a glorious southwest spin. I'd give it a solid "B". It has mexican/dirty rice that wants to add a spice, but it either needs more or less. And it could use more bacon or maybe emulsify some of its drippings to kick up the flavors. The warmed greens and peppers were an excellent touch!

It's still somewhat expensive, but now it's more...

We stopped in for some breakfast. It is located down a side street. Plenty of parking. It was raining when we went so we couldn't enjoy the nice outside area. My husband got a cinnamon roll and said it was the best he has had since getting on the Alcan. I got a strawberry cheesecake strudel that was very good. We also got a raspberry scones for later and a couple of hot chocolates. We are going to stop in again on our way home. UPDATE: We stopped in on our way back down the Alcan and had lunch. Staff was great. We had the ham and cheese croissants. They were really good. My husband got a fruit cup and an Apple Strudel. We also picked up the last loaf of sourdough bread.

Excellent little place that we discovered during our stay in Haines Junction. We had breakfast here a few times and made it in time for dinner one night. Breakfast sandwiches, rolls, cookies, dessert bars, parfait, coffee, salads, lasagna, and ice cream are all excellent. The food was always fresh and made with quality ingredients; service was quick and efficient. Nice outdoor seating area. Make sure to check out the plates of day old cinnamon rolls in the morning for a great value. Prices for food are comparable to what you would see at Starbucks here in the states but quality is far better.
