A truly magical experience that I will never forget!
We went on a pre-booked Star Gazing via our hotel called 'Desert Delight'.
a short 10 minute drive from our hotel brought us out on to the edge of the desert where we received a warm and friendly welcome from the team at Viana Club.
With live acoustic Portuguese music played as we arrived, and a welcome drink we we seated for dinner which was a buffet of tradional local meat dishes and vegetables with Chicken, Pork, Fish, Rice, Salad and Vegetarian options.
All the staff were genuinely friendly and offered a warm and sincere welcome.
After the dinner the local Star Gazers and Amateur Astronomers invited us outside to view the sky though a couple of telescopes before escorting us on a short 5 minute walk through the warm desert night to where our hour-long display and talk would begin.
Laying back on the blankets and looking up a night sky entrely free from light pollution was breath-taking.
Using a laser pointer, our experienced local guides pointed out constelations not normally visable to us in the northern hemisphere, talked about the history of the universe, the creation and death of stars, the human trend for seeking patterns in the sky and naming stars...
It was a remarkable night and a mixed group aged between 7 and 70 were equally entertained, educated and awed.
On returning to Viana Club we were offered a complimentary shot of the local spirit by the staff who were excellent throughout.
Star Gazing or not; I really hope that this venue tucked, away on the edge of the Dunes, continues to survive and thrive as I thought that the staff their food the atmosphere and their welcome were as unique as the location... please seek them out should you come...
Read moreWe were here both as part of a half-day trip and in the evening for Desert Delight, both with TUI. The food was delicious, the people were friendly.
It was a bit too crowded in the evening. It would have been much better if there had been fewer people. We could see the moon, Saturn and Jupiter through the telescopes. Unfortunately it was cloudy, but nobody can do anything about that.
You have to know that the evening event is not just about the stars and planets. The Desert Delight event is a bit too expensive for what is on...
Read moreThe food we were served here was traditional Cabo food, and it was amazing, chicken, fish, pork, rice and beans, and veg. Drinks were okay, but the cocktails are very sweet.
Geat place to go stargazing, and the sand is so soft with amazing sand dunes.
Would of got 5* but the guide who took us for stargazing, didn't know her North, South, East & West and was struggling with the constellations and we were having to...
